#TBT – Karla Mosley
Soap Opera Digest: Who showed you the ropes when you started?
Karla Mosley: Lawrence [Saint-Victor, Remy] and Yvonna [Wright, Mel], especially in the first couple of weeks, were the best. [Lawrence] taught me to have fun and make the story my own and take the reins. That really helped me in the beginning.
Digest: Any memorable moments from your first day?
Mosley: I was so lost [at the studio], I was too shy to ask about where I was supposed to go and thought someone would come tell me, and they don’t! I was just sitting there and finally I walked past the makeup room and they were like, ‘Um, I think you’re supposed to have makeup on!’ I felt very wide-eyed.”
Digest: This is your first soap role, but have you auditioned for other daytime gigs?
Mosley: I’d been in for ALL MY CHILDREN. I did background work one day on AS THE WORLD TURNS when I first started out.
Digest: Have you been recognized by GUDING LIGHT fans on the street?
Mosley: Yeah! In the beginning, I was still being recognized for [her work on children’s show] HI-5. Now it’s definitely shifted. I think’s it because of my hair. People spot me like a mile away. I walked into a restaurant that I’ve been to a million times and this woman screamed, ‘Christina!’ The there was another time on the subway. It’s also such a different fan base. If soap fans are pissed about something, they’ll tell you! It is so funny.
Digest: How did you spend your first big paycheck?
Mosley: My big purchase will be my honeymoon. [She’s set to marry her longtime beau in September]. My dream is Greece and Egypt.
