ORSON BEAN PRESENTS A CHRISTMAS CAROL THIS WEEKEND
Film, TV and stage vet Orson Bean (ex-Roy, DH) presents his annual adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol this weekend at the First Lutheran Chuch in Venice, CA. The free production is a labor of love for Bean, husband of B&B’s Alley Mills (Pam). “I've been doing it for years,” Bean tells Digest. "I wrote my own version of Dickens's A Christmas Carol years ago, having been in a number of other people’s, and I know the parts where the kids start getting restless and throwing popcorn at each other. So, I just left those out, put a bunch of laughs in and kept Dickens's beautiful heart. We give the show away for three performances every year at this little church in Venice and we pack the place. Kids sit up front on the floor, and there’s no collection plate going around. It’s a completely free gift to the community. It's such a lot of fun!
