Laneya Grace has won the contract role of the newest Forrester on Bold and Beautiful, and fans will get their first look at her as Electra when she makes her debut on October 22.

Becoming Electra

In a new interview with TV Insider, the daytime newcomer teased a little bit about what fans can expect from Electra. “She knows what she wants and she wants to take it and I love her,” Grace told the website. “She’s maybe got a little bit of a path that we might find out about later. But she’s definitely very, very excited to be in Los Angeles with her Aunt Ivy and doing what she loves.”

Working with Ashleigh Brewer, who plays her character’s aunt Ivy and is returning to help introduce Electra, has been great for the soap newbie, who described Brewer as having been helpful and encouraging her during this new adventure. Indeed, getting cast on the show started out as quite a whirlwind for the young star. At the time of her audition, she was attending the University of Houston. She did the usual (these days) self-tape route to throw her hat into the ring for the B&B role, then was notified that the show’s higher-ups wanted her to come in person to the studio for a callback. “I ended up skipping my first day of school and I came down to L.A. and I met a bunch of producers and Brad Bell [executive producer/head writer],” she explained. A week later, she learned she had booked the gig.

While she may be a novice in the world of soaps, Grace is no stranger to life in front of the cameras. She started modeling at the age of 4. By age 9, she got the chance to work on a music video, Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” which has over two billion YouTube views. That’s when her father, who was acting as her manager, asked if show biz was something she wanted to pursue. She answered in the affirmative, and by the time she was 11, she had enrolled in acting classes, and landed both a manager and an agent. High school theater eventually followed, then college, which she decided to put on hold after winning the role of Electra.

The young star knows how big a deal it is to be playing a Forrester on the half-hour soap. “It’s just an incredible legacy to be a part of,” she gushed. Grace researched the players and has felt some pressure but she is getting more and more comfortable as she settles into the show. She also bonded quickly with a fellow younger cast member, Crew Morrow (Will Spencer). “He was my first actor friend on the show,” she reported. The two met when she came to L.A. for the callback. “It was nice to come in my first day and have a familiar face,” she explained.

Now life has completely changed for the former coed but she’s taking it all in stride. Her first day working on a network show, she recalled to TV Insider, “I was so nervous. I knew that I knew all of my lines and I got up there and I was like, ‘Are they gonna leave my brain?’ I did end up remembering all of them and the nerves went away so quickly.”
