General Hospital Star Scarlett Spears, Donna, Will Star as Young Glinda In Wicked Sequel!
Since 2022, General Hospital viewers have known and loved rising star Scarlett Spears as Donna Corinthos, the adorable daughter of divorced supercouple Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright). Now comes the exciting news that she has nabbed a plum role in the highly anticipated movie musical Wicked: For Good, the sequel to last year’s acclaimed and aptly titled Wicked: Part One.
Girl Power
In Wicked: For Good, which is set to premiere nationwide on November 21, Spears plays Young Glinda, who is played as an adult by Oscar-nominated, Grammy-winning superstar Ariana Grande. A new trailer for the film just dropped on its official Instagram account, giving a first peek at Spears in the role. The young actress is shown in full Glinda regalia, saying, “I want to be magical — for real!”
Sharing an adorable photo of herself on set with Spears on her own official Instagram account, Grande made it clear that Spears made a big impression on her. Grande wrote, “my tiny girl in the bubble, played by the wonderful and talented @miss.scarlett.brielle 🫧 thank you for your beautiful work and for allowing the world to understand our Galinda more deeply than ever before.. ♡ i adore you so.”
A Florida native, Spears has been a working actress since the age of 4, and made her debut as a model even earlier. She was only 5 when she began playing Donna, and naturally, her GH co-stars were among the first to cheer the exciting news of her role in the Wicked sequel. Jacqueline Grace Lopez (ex-Blaze) wrote on Instagram, “Gaah! Congrats Scarlett!,” while one of her on-screen siblings, Rory Gibson (Michael) chimed in with several applause emojis.
Soap Opera Digest sends its own hearty congratulations to Spears for landing what is sure to be the most high-profile gig of her career to date!
