Comments

Many Port Charles residents gathered at the courthouse on the December 17 episode of General Hospital as Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial began. Nina (Cynthia Watros) got into a tiff with Carly (Laura Wright), Tracy (Jane Elliot) prepared to go to bat for Michael (Rory Gibson), Drew (Cameron Mathison) was unwavering in his support for his wife, and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Justine (Nazneen Contractor) delivered their opening statements. Meanwhile, after Lulu (Alexia Havins) put Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) in her place, the back-from-the-dead doctor had a highly anticipated reunion with her bestie, Brad (Parry Shen). Keep on reading for the full scoop.

Difference of Opinion

Britt was replying to Rocco’s text when Liz gave her a hard time about being on her cell phone during working hours. Their bickering was interrupted by Lucas, who had a copy of the recommendation letter for Britt that he’d sent to the medical board. However, she thought the letter was a hatchet job since Lucas raved about her medical expertise but said nothing of her personality. Annoyed that Britt was ungrateful, Lucas stormed up the hospital stairs, and she mumbled to herself that his letter wouldn’t matter if Agent Brennan came through with their deal. Returning to the hub, Liz made a sarcastic comment about Britt’s attitude, and a frustrated Britt declared that she was taking her break. Finding a quiet bench in the hallway, she returned Rocco’s text.

Later, Liz and Lucas joked that Britt becoming a doctor again meant she would no longer be under the nurse’s supervision. Elizabeth wondered what led Lucas to offer the recommendation, and he revealed Britt’s instincts during Portia’s medical scare had convinced him. Elsewhere at the hospital, Curtis arrived to bring Portia back to the house, but she’d changed her mind, feeling it would be less stressful to return to her room at the Metro Court. Since he was then headed to Willow’s trial, Portia asked him to keep her updated on any developments.

After Curtis left, Portia had another visitor: Brad, who was back in town after blowing through all the money Drew had paid him. The former lab tech claimed he was hoping to start fresh with Portia, but she insisted that he no longer held anything over her. As Brad threatened to tell his story to Dr. Randolph and the hospital board, Isaiah entered Portia’s room and ordered Brad to leave. Portia warned Isaiah to be careful around Brad because it would be disastrous for them both if Cooper pieced together that they were involved. Although upset with the comment, Isaiah quickly played it off that he’d only been sticking up for his boss by kicking Brad out. Changing the subject, Isaiah asked when she was going back to Curtis’s house and, learning that she’d changed her mind, again invited Portia to recuperate at his cabin. Initially, Portia didn’t think it was a good idea, but her hospital room was empty by the time Elizabeth arrived to check on her friend.

Best Friends Forever

At Lulu’s house, Dante was glad to hear from his ex-wife that their son was in a better mood that morning. Lulu thought that if Dante was patient, Rocco would come around. She was happily surprised when Dante confided that Gio came to him, wanting a truce, and that his older son would be joining them for tree-decorating. Lulu thought decorating for Christmas would be good for Charlotte, too, amid the drama with Valentin on the run. Dante then headed out for the courthouse for Willow’s trial, and Lulu prepared to go herself, since she was covering the proceedings. But before she left, a notification pinged on Rocco’s tablet — which he’d forgotten to take to school — and she saw the text exchange between her son and Britt.

Tracking down Britt at the hospital, Lulu ripped into her for secretly texting Rocco, then ordered the other woman to stay away from her son. Britt later found that Lulu made good on her vow to block her number when additional messages to Rocco went undelivered. Meanwhile, Lucas ran into Brad by the elevator and was shocked that his ex-husband was back in town. Fishing for information about Lucas’s personal life, Brad was disappointed to learn that he and Marco had moved in together, but the exes parted on a friendly note. Later, Brad saw Britt in the hallway, and after telling his best friend how hurt he was that she let him believe she was dead, he agreed to forgive her if Britt resumed their tradition of watching the Oscars together. “Come here, you heartless skank,” he whispered before hugging his bestie.

The Calm Before The Storm

Across town at Miller & Davis, Kristina brought her mom tea as Alexis went over last-minute preparations for Willow’s trial, and the attorney told her daughter she was more worried than ever that Drew would cut off the family’s contact with Scout if Willow wasn’t exonerated. Kristina left once Willow arrived at the law firm with Drew. Alexis went over how important it was for Willow to keep her composure at all times during the trial. When Drew reminded his wife that the end goal was to be exonerated and reunite with Wiley and Amelia, Willow declared that she’d do whatever it took to be with her children again.

At the Quartermaines, Michael flashed back to the night of Drew’s shooting, remembering getting into his car while it was raining. Tracy entered from the back door, having gone to the crypt to speak with Monica, and again told Michael she’d do what she could to protect him in court. He hated that Tracy might potentially perjure herself if she lied about having seen him outside Drew’s that night, but swore again that he didn’t shoot his uncle. Not sure whether to believe him or not, Tracy shared that she understood Michael’s desire to lie to keep his kids with him… and she was willing to do the same. Inheriting the responsibility to keep the Quartermaine family together came along with inheriting the house, Tracy mused, and she was touched when Michael stated that his grandmother had chosen a worthy successor.

Judgement Day

In the hallway of the courthouse, Carly overheard Nina speaking with someone on the phone about the “problem” she needed solved for her daughter and accused the other woman of conspiring to help Willow go on the run. The women bickered over Willow’s innocence, but before walking away, Nina smirked that the prosecution’s evidence wasn’t as solid as they thought.

As people began arriving for the trial, Dante and Justine discussed how the traffic footage proved that Willow had lied about her alibi twice. When Tracy and Michael entered the courtroom, Carly quipped that she wouldn’t be surprised if Willow made a run for it rather than show up for the trial. Nina intercepted Willow and Drew in the corridor, wanted to speak with her daughter in private, but Alexis called them into the courtroom before Nina had a chance to share her urgent news. Deciding at the last minute to attend the trial so she could hear the testimony firsthand in her and Kai’s quest to uncover something about the shooter, Trina played the role of supportive girlfriend to Drew’s intern. Once Curtis arrived, he was surprised to see his daughter, and Trina was shocked to hear that her mom opted not to go to the family home upon her release from G.H.

Following her confrontation with Britt, a flustered Lulu rushed into the courtroom, but didn’t want to get into it with Dante about why she was so worked up. Addressing the jury, Acting D.A. Turner gave her opening statement, which painted Willow in a negative light as a woman who’d suffered a psychotic break after losing custody of her children, as a result of Drew’s manipulations. Once it was Alexis’s turn, she informed the jury that it was Michael’s actions — since he’d been angry and jealous after Willow left him for his uncle — that led to Willow’s emotional distress several months ago. Receiving a call, Dante stepped out into the hallway. As Alexis relayed how the PCPD rushed to judge her client rather than investigate other potential suspects, Justine turned around to look at Dante and was stunned to find his seat empty.
