General Hospital Recap: Willow Attacks Drew, ‘Faison’ Taunts Anna and Michael Fears Prosecution
After the verdict came in at Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial on the January 19 episode of General Hospital, she was finally able to move on with her life. Unfortunately for Drew (Cameron Mathison), he and his wife did not share the same vision of what their future should look like! Elsewhere, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) grappled with the impossible choice she’d made, Justine (Nazneen Contractor) ordered Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) to build her a case against his brother; Sonny (Maurice Benard) gave a worried Michael (Rory Gibson) some fatherly support; and Anna (Finola Hughes) was haunted by her past. Get all the details below!
The Verdict Is In!
Once the not-guilty verdict was read in the courtroom, Alexis exhaled a sigh of relief, but she did not return her client’s enthusiastic hug. Trina moaned to Kai that she couldn’t believe Willow got away with attempted murder, and Michael quickly exited the courtroom. The judge declared that Willow was free to go, and Nina hugged her daughter, saying that she was relieved it was all finally over. After Chase congratulated Willow on her win, Drew rushed over to Willow and Drew professed that he knew she’d be exonerated, just like he promised. Willow thanked her supporters for believing in her, and Alexis told Drew that she expected him to hold up his end of their deal before departing. Next, Drew wanted to take Willow home for a private celebration and got annoyed when Nina invited herself and Chase to join them.

Elsewhere in the courtroom, Justine snapped to Dante that they’d lost the case because of the missing traffic cam footage and instructed him to find out who was responsible for tampering with the file. Then, as Drew and Willow exited the courtroom, Drew informed Turner that he’d be in touch about pressing charges against Michael, the person who’d actually shot him. Frustrated, Justine reprimanded Chase for undermining her case with his testimony. When the suspended detective insisted that he’d just told the truth because he felt the wrong person had been prosecuted, Justine countered that Willow was only acquitted because the jury hadn’t been able to see a pivotal piece of evidence. She implied that Chase was behind the missing footage, but he denied that he’d been the one to tamper with the evidence. Then, he told Justine that he’d only wanted to make sure the right culprit was brought to justice, and spat that if she’d done her job correctly, Drew’s shooter would be behind bars, and she wouldn’t be harassing him.
After Chase stalked off, Justine ordered Dante to build her a case against Michael. Acknowledging that his brother was the top suspect, Dante suggested they consider the other suspects on the list as well, such as Curtis. However, Justine felt that Alexis’s defense strategy left the state no choice but to focus on Michael.

Rock And A Hard Place
Sonny went to Miller & Davis to see Diane and Alexis (neither of whom was in the office) and found out from Suzanne that the jury had reached a verdict in Willow’s trial. Sonny confided that he hoped Willow was acquitted for everyone’s sake, which surprised Suzanne since the DA might then possibly go after Michael. Insisting the prosecutor had no evidence against Michael, Sonny shared that he didn’t hold Alexis’s defense strategy against her since she’d done her job to represent Willow. Sonny added that he wasn’t sure if Suzanne knew, but Drew had given her Alexis an ultimatum to get Willow cleared if she ever wanted to see Scout again, and they both knew that they’d do anything for their kids and grandkids. Then, Suzanne got a text from Alexis that the jury had found Willow not guilty.
Once back at her office, an angry Alexis began throwing files across the room. Concerned, Suzanne entered and asked her boss why she was acting like she’d lost the case, then correctly deduced that Willow was actually guilty. Alexis asked how long Suzanne had known, and her assistant shared that she’d suspected based on Willow’s defensive behavior back when they were rehearsing to put her on the stand. At first, she didn’t know for sure, Suzanne added, but then Alexis slipped during summation and said Willow had been the one to shoot Drew. “It made me physically sick to be quiet, knowing she was guilty and I had to be quiet,” Alexis seethed. “And now she’s free.”

Next, without naming names, Alexis explained how she’d received the damning evidence against Willow the night that she’d rested her case. Assuring Alexis that she’d done the ethical thing by providing Willow with the best defense possible, Suzanne advised her boss to move on with her life, especially since she had access to Scout again. “And as for Willow, she’s Drew’s problem now,” Suzanne sniffed.
United Front
At Bad Jen Café, Trina and Kai unpacked what happened in court, with Kai lamenting that double jeopardy prevented Willow from being prosecuted again. Offering a different perspective, Trina stated that, after telling the whole courtroom how much she loved Drew and could never shoot him, Willow was now stuck with her husband for the foreseeable future — and that might be punishment enough. Kai then told his girlfriend that he planned to resign as Drew’s intern and, if Michael ended up getting indicted, he’d go to the police on his own because there was no reason for them both to risk prosecution. Trina didn’t want him to go down for a crime they were both a part of, but Kai insisted he loved her way too much to let her destroy her life that way. Climbing into Kai’s lap, Trina kissed him and got him to agree that if they had to go to the police about Willow, they’d do it together.

Freedom Act
Back at their house, Drew promised Willow that he’d get her kids back, just like he’d made good on his promise to get her exonerated. Pretending to be the doting wife, she replied that she didn’t know what she’d do without him, but squeezed her eyes shut as she kissed him. Scout then came bounding into the room, having been told by her nanny, Chelsea, that her parents had good news, and shared a hug with her stepmom upon learning that Willow didn’t have to go to prison. To Drew’s dismay, Willow praised the way Alexis had defended her to Scout and told the tween that her grandmother would now have more time to spend with her. Just as Scout asked if she could visit Alexis that day, Nina arrived with champagne to celebrate.
While Willow took Scout to get a snack, Drew told Nina to leave and threatened to tell his wife how she’d wanted Willow to be convicted so she could take over the case herself. Nina accused Drew of twisting her words, but he dug in his heels, smugly proclaiming that Willow would be livid to find out that Nina had tried to undermine their relationship yet again. Not cowering to Drew’s threat, Nina agreed to leave — only so she wouldn’t ruin Willow’s celebration — but vowed that she’d be back.

Although Drew managed to kick Nina out, Chase showed up shortly after, with flowers in hand for Willow. Drew claimed that Nina’s planned celebration fell apart, but wasn’t able to get Chase to leave before Willow returned to the room, and the congressman wasn’t happy with the way his wife again gushed her thanks to her ex-husband. As Chase left, Willow turned her back to Drew and schooled her expression now that she had to be alone with her husband, but quickly slipped into character and asked him to hold her.
Uncertain Times
Returning to the Quartermaine estate, Michael flashed back to his conversation with Willow when he’d told her she could have access to the kids if she went to prison, and she asked what would happen if she was found not guilty. Sonny then arrived to check on Michael, who grumbled that it was only a matter of time before the police pressed charges against him. “Everyone in town believes I did it. Even my own father,” Michael lamented. Replying that he didn’t care whether Michael had shot Drew, Sonny vowed to make sure his son didn’t go down for the crime. Michael argued that even if his dad was able to keep him from going to prison, Willow’s exoneration was going to impact the visitation hearing, and he was determined to protect Wiley and Amelia from their unstable mother and manipulative stepfather.

Again, Sonny swore that his priority would be to keep his son out of prison for shooting Drew, and Michael again declared that he didn’t do it. Michael was convinced Turner would come after him to save face, but Sonny promised that he’d make sure that Turner wouldn’t be the prosecutor in charge.
Later, Sonny headed to the courthouse and caught Justine as she was about to leave. When she asked if he was there to gloat, Sonny replied that he was there to do her a favor. Meanwhile, Michael was looking at a photo of him, Wiley, and Amelia on his phone when Chase walked into the den and suggested that they find a way to co-exist for the sake of the family now that Willow had been exonerated. However, Michael refused to call a truce with his cousin-in-law since Chase believed he’d been the one to shoot Drew and then helped Alexis build a case against him.

Living Nightmare
Anna freaked out when she heard “Faison” speaking to her through the intercom. Refusing to believe it was possible, Anna shouted back that he was dead, but “Faison” continued to go on about their tangled history and claimed that now that they were reunited, they would never be parted again. Declaring that she was being tricked, Anna cried that someone just wanted her to think Faison was alive. “Faison” then stated that people also his children, Nathan and Britt, were dead, but they’d both returned to the land of the living, and asked Anna if she ever considered all three of them might have received the same miracle treatment. “No!” she yelled. “I was finally rid of you!” Then, when “Faison” replied that she could never be rid of him because what they had was eternal, Anna rushed into her bathroom, suddenly nauseous.
Upon returning to the front room, Anna snuffed out the cigarillo in the ashtray and tossed it in the trash, while announcing that she knew Faison was dead because his brain was in a jar. “Someone’s brain is in a jar, Anna,” the man’s voice quipped. “But it’s not mine. I’m right here with you.” When Anna demanded that the man show himself, “Faison” replied that he couldn’t bear for her to see him until he was fully recovered. Anna was disgusted when “Faison” added that once he healed, they would spend the rest of their lives together in their new home.

If At First You Don’t Succeed…
Later, Alexis was packing up Willow’s files when Scout arrived to see her grandmother, and they shared a teary reunion. Back at the Cain home, Willow told Drew that she had Chelsea take Scout to see Alexis so they could spend some time alone. With the champagne Nina had brought over, the couple made a toast to their future. Then, as Drew rambled that they should go on vacation if they could work it around her visitation hearing, Willow went around to the chair he was seated in and hugged him from behind — and then jabbed him in the neck with a syringe! As Drew fell to the ground, unconscious, she returned the words he’d been saying to her for weeks: “Everything’s going to work out, Drew. You’ll see.”
