General Hospital Recap: Sonny and Laura Taunt Sidwell as Cassius Saves Josslyn
The Monday, June 8, episode of General Hospital was full of realizations, confrontations, and confessions. Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) faced off against Sidwell (Carlo Rota), who then realized that Lucas (Van Hansis) had betrayed him; Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) got a crash course in Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) predicament from fellow captive Josslyn (Eden McCoy); Curtis (Donnell Turner) bounced his legal defense off of Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) as Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) informed Portia (Kerr Brook) of plans to sue her ex; and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) convinced Trina (Tabyana Ali) to put herself first for once. Keep on reading for the full rundown.
Checkmate
Cullum brought a drugged Obrecht to the basement room and was shocked to find that Josslyn was already being held there. Musing that he thought there was something off about Josslyn’s ditzy sorority girl act, he warned her not to get too comfortable as he headed upstairs.
Up in the study, Sidwell informed Cassius that Cullum had captured Obrecht. Cassius barely held back his anger as Sidwell detailed how Cassius’s mother was going to be forced to complete building Britt’s prototype. Their conversation was interrupted when Cullum entered, demanding to know why Josslyn was being held hostage and blasting the two for not letting him know that they’d been holding a WSB agent captive for nearly a month. Jenz shrugged that Cullum made plenty of moves without informing them, so they’d just followed suit. Then, Sidwell received a phone call that there was a problem with his flight path and stormed out to deal with the situation.

Over at the Metro Court Garden, Laura and Sonny anticipated Sidwell’s arrival after the mayor officially shut down the flight path and helicopter pad. Sonny told Laura that he had their families under surveillance in case Sidwell retaliated, but Lucas had turned down his offer of protection. When Laura worried that Lucas was so grief-stricken that he didn’t realize how big a risk he was taking, Sonny replied that they had to see it through after what Lucas had done for them.
Once Sidwell arrived, he angrily confronted Laura and Sonny and threatened to expose the incriminating photographs if the mayor didn’t reverse her decision. When Laura dared him to do his worst, Jenz, confident that he’d be able to send her to prison, declared that he’d appoint Ezra to replace her and stalked off. Although Sonny and Laura celebrated getting the upper hand over Sidwell, Sonny speculated that with the blackmail evidence gone, they had no idea how Sidwell was going to retaliate… or against whom.

Risky Business
On the other side of the restaurant, Curtis asked Alexis to defend him in his assault case. She turned him down because she’d already met with Isaiah about a lawsuit he intended to file against Curtis. Even though she’d turned Isaiah down as well, Alexis explained that she couldn’t, in good conscience, cross-examine Portia after blowing up the woman’s life during Willow’s trial. Once Alexis promised to find Curtis an excellent defense attorney, he shared his intention to defend himself by proving that Isaiah was the other driver in his and Jordan’s car accident. Alexis warned him that it was a risk that could backfire, making Curtis look like a spurned ex-husband. Curtis thanked Alexis for the insight but still planned to use the strategy since it was the only way to hold Isaiah accountable. Curtis declared that even if Isaiah wasn’t prosecuted for the accident, the damage the doctor would suffer to his reputation once it became public record that he’d left Jordan to die — as well as potentially losing his medical license — would be enough.

Meanwhile, Portia found Isaiah in the conference room after he met with board members about the surgeon who will replace him. He shared that he’d stay on as a consultant and diagnostician and hopefully return to staff if his hand healed. But with his future as a surgeon up in the air, Isaiah planned to sue Curtis. Even though a lawsuit would place her and her children smack in the middle of the fighting men, Portia acknowledged that Isaiah was justified in wanting compensation. But for Trina’s sake, she asked him to hold off on filing his lawsuit until after the baby was born.

Next In Line
Elsewhere at the hospital, Lucas received a text from Sonny that their plan was in action. He also met with Kristina about the plans for the tennis center dedicated to Marco. She asked him to oversee the construction since she was moving to California to attend med school. When Kristina revealed that she’d been putting off telling her parents because she wasn’t sure how they’d react and didn’t want to leave Charlie’s Pub in a lurch (after her father essentially bought the bar for her), Lucas assured her that they’d be happy for her.

Golden Opportunity
Trina received a phone call that a studio had a last-minute opening for her and Gio to rehearse for the showcase, but she turned it down, explaining to Kai that she was too busy with errands for Portia’s baby shower. Kai was worried that, by putting her own life on the back burner to play peacemaker between her parents, Trina was blowing the opportunity of a lifetime. Trina confided she was afraid of failing, and Kai encouraged her to take the leap and put herself first for a change. Trina agreed to focus on the showcase after the baby shower was over.

The Games People Play
Back at Wyndemere, Cullum wanted to kill Josslyn, but Cassius protected her, arguing that because of her connections, she was a valuable bargaining chip. Accusing Faison’s son of trying to sabotage the project with his “recent spate of sloppiness,” Cullum warned Cassius not to let his mother escape the way his sister had. Claiming that Obrecht meant nothing to him, Cassius exited.
After managing to wake Obrecht up, Josslyn revealed her status as a WSB agent and explained that they were underneath Wyndemere. Obrecht realized that Joss’ status with the WSB had been the reason she’d been asking so many questions about Faison. Josslyn showed Obrecht the message Anna had written on the bedroom wall and shared her theory that Cullum and Sidwell had captured Anna because she was close to discovering Faison’s final project. Josslyn added that the cold fusion prototype was near completion but another scientist was needed to finish the device. Obrecht was horrified to learn that Britt had been forced to work on the project in exchange for Huntington’s medication. Obrecht wondered why Britt hadn’t gone to her brother for help, and Josslyn was about to tell Liesl the truth about “Nathan” when Cassius arrived.

Returning home, a furious Sidwell went to his safe, prepared to expose Laura and Sonny, and discovered that the photographs of them with Dalton’s body were gone. Jenz realized that Lucas had stolen them. As if on cue, Lucas called him, inviting him to meet at the Corinthos-Davis House to check on the construction of Marco’s tennis center.
