General Hospital Recap: Nina Is Arrested For Attempted Murder and Chase Moves Out
The Wednesday, September 16, episode of General Hospital ended with the arrest of one character and another needing a new place to live. Nina (Cynthia Watros) was handcuffed by Agent Baines (Alimi Ballard) in a very public manner, Chase (Josh Swickard) left Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) heartbroken by moving out of the Quartermaine estate, Anna (Finola Hughes) was determined not to do anything that might jeopardize Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) relationship with Carly (Laura Wright), Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) decided to be the bait to lure Drew (Cameron Mathison) into a compromising situation, and more. Here’s everything that happened.
Cuffing Reason
Nina ran into Sonny at the Metro Court Gardens and mentioned that she might need Ric’s legal help because Carly had told the WSB about a public fight she’d had with Jack before he went missing. Even though she didn’t know where Jack was and was sure it wouldn’t amount to anything, Nina thought it was wise to retain a lawyer.
After chatting with Nina, Sonny crossed the restaurant to meet with Tracy. She told him that Brook Lynn had confessed to being the other driver in Curtis and Jordan’s accident and the fallout with Chase and Gio. But when Tracy asked Sonny to convince their grandson to forgive his mother, Sonny called Tracy out for trying to fix Brook Lynn’s relationship with her son since she couldn’t fix things between Brook Lynn and Chase.
Ava arrived at the restaurant just as Nina was scheduling a meeting with Ric, so Nina told her friend about the WSB investigation. Without letting on what she did, Ava attempted to suss out exactly what the WSB knew. Agent Baines then approached their table and arrested Nina for the disappearance and possible murder of WSB Agent Jack Brennan! Baines dragged a handcuffed Nina out of the restaurant, kicking and screaming, in front of Sonny, Tracy, several patrons taping the encounter on their cellphones, and a horrified Ava.
Change of Address
Brook Lynn was devastated when Chase announced he was moving out. As he packed, she begged him not to leave and even offered to move away from the mansion, but Chase felt the broken trust between them was a bigger issue than her overbearing family. When Brook Lynn cried that Chase had lied to her in the past as well, but she’d chosen not to let those actions destroy their marriage, he yelled back that she hadn’t been truthful after framing Willow despite swearing there were no more lies between them.
Brook Lynn was crushed when Chase revealed he’d spoken with Alexis about getting a legal separation. Brook Lynn managed to convince Chase to hold off on filing the separation papers until he figured out if their marriage was worth saving, and invited him to come back the next day to see Phoebe. After he left, Brook Lynn broke down in sobs.
Bowing Out
Carly dropped by Anna’s and was taken aback to find Valentin there and Anna visibly upset. After Carly awkwardly took off, Anna told Valentin he’s been different since getting involved with Carly. She urged him to go after Carly and explain that he was just taking care of a friend.
Anna called Felicia over. Felicia was surprised that Valentin had been there, and Anna confided that he understood her in a way nobody else did and had seen her during some of her worst moments. But Anna declared that she couldn’t lean on Valentin any longer; she would always love him, but he and Carly deserved to be happy together.
Peace of Mind
Carly was drowning her sorrows in red wine when Valentin got to her house. He offered to tell her what was going on with Anna, but Carly shut him down, wanting to respect Anna’s privacy. She divulged that she’d gone to check on Anna after witnessing a fight between Emma and Josslyn that clearly had Emma scared.
Valentin confirmed Carly’s suspicion that the WSB was involved in what was happening to Anna, and she shared her concern that the bureau would destroy Josslyn’s life. Valentin conceded that Carly’s fears about Josslyn’s career were valid, but said that Anna’s situation was directly linked to her time with Cesar Faison, so it was unlikely that Josslyn would suffer the same fate just because she worked with the WSB. Valentin said he believed Anna would get back on her feet, and he wanted her to find the same kind of peace in her life that he’s found with Carly.
Indecent Proposal
Scout secretly met up with Danny at the Quartermaine stables, where he was working off the money he owed for damaging Chase’s truck and the speedboat. She warned Danny that after Drew had caught her in a lie on Labor Day, she let her father believe that she had been with Danny. When Danny got angry, Scout lied that she’d gone to a PCU party rather than tell him the truth that she’d been with Rocco, and Danny forgave her for using him as a cover story.
Charlotte arrived as the siblings were talking. Once Scout left, she informed a shocked Danny that his sister had been with a boy, not at a college party. If Scout kept sneaking around with her mystery guy, Charlotte theorized, it was only a matter of time before Drew caught her and assumed Danny was involved. To avoid that, they needed something to hold over Drew, so Charlotte proposed catching him in a compromising position with someone inappropriate — like her.
Freeze Frame
Earlier, at Drew’s house, Ava finally told him about the tick she’d picked up in the nature preserve. Ava was worried that the CDC tracing the rare tick breed might lead to someone discovering Brennan’s body, and reminded Drew that if she went down, he was going with her. Flashing back to planting Jack’s wallet in Nina’s car, Drew promised Ava that if the WSB or PCPD went looking for someone to pin Brennan’s disappearance on, it wouldn’t be her.
Later, Scout opened up to her dad about how she’d missed him following his stroke and the distance she’d felt between them since his recovery. Drew vowed to make sure nothing would ever pull them apart again.
