General Hospital Recap: Jason Rescues Britt, Portia Is Summoned To Testify, Molly And Cody Kiss And More

Comments

The December 22 episode of General Hospital was full of Christmas miracles! Cody (Josh Kelly) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) at long last shared their first kiss, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) took a big step with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Jason (Steve Burton) made good on his promise to be there for Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Curtis (Donnell Turner) reinforced how important Jordan (Tanisha Harper) was to him, Ava (Maura West) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) mended their broken friendship, and Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) success ended up being one of Portia’s (Brook Kerr) worst fears come true. Here’s how it all played out.

Phone A Friend

Gio was helping Trina set up the Christmas tree in her apartment when Emma stopped by to deliver a present. When Emma wondered why her boyfriend wasn’t with Dante and his family, he confided that he’d been dragging his feet on going over to Lulu’s, but if Dante could make the effort, he would, too. After Gio left, Emma wondered if she should have gone with him in a show of support, so Trina sent her friend over to Lulu’s house with a special item. Once alone, Trina finished decorating her tree, then looked at a photo on her phone of her, Portia, and Curtis from last Christmas. Upset by the current state of her fractured family, she pulled the blanket over her and settled in on the couch.

Over at the PCPD, Chase hauled Brad and Britt in after they dined and dashed at Café Cherie. Bringing them into the interrogation room, he left them with a cell phone to make their phone calls before returning to the bullpen. When Britt couldn’t get through to Nina, she grumbled that nobody in her family cared about her, and Brad freaked out that they were going to spend the night in lockup. Groaning, Britt acknowledged that there was one other person she could call.

Good Advice

Alexis was on the phone, trying to track down someone who’d been in the hospital, when Danny, Jason, Molly, and Kristina arrived with a Christmas tree since she’d been too busy with the trial to decorate. Danny lamented that Scout wasn’t there with them, and Alexis told her grandson that she was hopeful her hard work with Willow’s case would pay off and he’d be able to spend time with his sister again. Meanwhile, Kristina asked Molly why Cody hadn’t joined them, and Molly shared that she hadn’t seen him since Thanksgiving night. Jason chimed in that he’d been at the Brown Dog when Molly walked in that night, and Britt was drunk when she’d kissed Cody. Jason added that Molly hadn’t seen Cody break the kiss off and reported that Cody had spent the rest of the night watching the door. “Sounds like he might have been waiting for someone,” Kristina stated, looking directly at her sister. Jason then got a call from Britt, who explained that she was being held at the PCPD. Telling the family that he had to take care of something important, Jason took off with the promise that he’d return later.

On the phone again, Alexis relayed how important it was that they find a certain missing witness, whom she needed in court the next day, and instructed the person on the other end to enlist Amy Driscoll’s help, since Amy could track down anyone. As they decorated the tree, Kristina urged her sister to cut Cody some slack about kissing Britt. Molly insisted she wasn’t holding anything against Cody, especially since she’d never even said she was interested in him. Jumping in with a male perspective, Danny told his aunt that guys were dumb and needed things spelled out for them. Cody probably thought Molly was too good for him, Danny added, and she needed to tell him directly how she felt. Calling Danny a genius, Molly set out to find Cody.

Do Not Return

While waiting for Jason to get to the station, Britt paced the interrogation room. Brad accused her of holding out on him about her relationship with Morgan, but she claimed Jason was only helping her until she got back on her feet. Once Jason arrived, they gave him their sob story about the confusion with the bill at Café Cherie. He said he’d bail Britt out — but not Brad — and swiftly left. Attempting to convince Britt that Jason wasn’t the kind of guy she should be with, Brad harped on all of Morgan’s negative attributes. Later, Chase reentered with an instant camera and snapped a photo of both Britt and Brad. Informing them that they were both free to go, Chase added that the pictures were for the restaurant since neither of them was allowed back — and that Jason had paid their bill along with a generous tip.

Allied Forces

Ava invited Nina to the Metro Court restaurant to talk about the state of their friendship. Nina was still ticked that Ava ratted her out to Portia, and Ava was annoyed that Nina had betrayed their mutual friend to begin with. Portia deserved a heads-up, Ava declared, just as she would have given Nina one if the situation were reversed. Ignoring a call from Ric, Nina spat back that she didn’t turn Portia in to the police; she’d only told Sonny that Portia might have a motive. Besides, she added, she’d made far worse compromises to save her daughter. Pointing out the similarities between them, Ava got Nina to admit that they both get defensive when they know they’re wrong. Ava apologized for blindsiding Nina at the Brown Dog, and Nina acknowledged that she understood why Ava had invited Portia to join them that day. While her friendship with Portia might be beyond repair, Nina hoped that she hadn’t lost Ava as a friend. Making up, the women admitted how important they were to one another, and Ava felt that Nina could even fix her friendship with Portia.

Across the restaurant, Jordan and Curtis discussed how he’d told Drew it wouldn’t do either of them any good if he went on trial, but the PCPD discovering new evidence against Willow was what ultimately led to the prosecution dropping the charges against him and moving forward with the case against her. As their chat turned to Trina’s low opinion of Jordan, she confided that she understood why Curtis’s daughter was blaming her for the dissolution of his and Portia’s marriage, especially with the new baby on the way. Curtis vowed to make sure that it was clear to Trina that he’d be there to support Portia and the baby, and he and Portia don’t have to be together for that to happen. Jordan noted that it wasn’t so much about the baby as it was that Trina believed her presence had undermined Portia and Curtis’s marriage and felt they should call it quits before their romance caused more damage to his relationship with his daughter. Refusing to entertain a breakup, Curtis insisted that once Trina understood there was no affair, she’d come around. Stating that he wasn’t going to give Jordan up again, Curtis kissed her.

You’ve Been Served

When Jason returned to Alexis’s house, she commented that she wasn’t sure if he’d make it back. Jason replied that he didn’t want to miss out on time with Danny, as he had with Monica, just as Kristina and Danny came downstairs with the star for the tree. As the others put the topper on, Alexis received a phone call that Amy had an address for the witness.

At Isaiah’s cabin, Portia expressed that she was nervous her relationship with Trina might be irrevocably damaged if the baby turned out to be his, because even though her marriage to Curtis was essentially over, her daughter would see the pregnancy as a betrayal of her father. Isaiah gently told Portia that stressing about it wasn’t doing her any good, and the only thing she could control was taking care of herself and the baby. He then asked how she truly felt about the baby, and she revealed that her pregnancy was an unexpected blessing, even if she feared all the unknowns. Gently kissing her hand, Isaiah wanted to know how he could support her, and Portia appreciated his steady, judgment-free presence. When Isaiah confided that he really hoped the baby was his, even with the messy circumstances surrounding them, Portia revealed that she’d hoped he was the father as well. Just as they kissed, there was a knock on the door. It was a process server who delivered a subpoena to Portia to testify the next day at Willow’s trial!

Family First

Nervous as she prepared for their family tree-trimming party, Lulu asked Laura and Sonny to make sure Dante and Gio didn’t get into another argument. The three discussed the steps that Gio and Rocco had taken in forging their relationship, but Lulu was still worried about the tension between Dante and Gio. Once Dante arrived, he was surprised to see Laura and Sonny there, and Laura joked that they were the grandparent buffers between him and Gio. Rocco and Charlotte then came downstairs, and as the teens started on the tree-decorating with the grandparents, Dante thanked Lulu for putting so many buffers in place.

Next, Dante asked Rocco if there was an update on his community service hours, and Rocco replied that the D.A.’s office said they’d sort it out after the holidays. Father and son had a minor breakthrough when Dante offered his help if Rocco needed anything, and Rocco accepted. Gio arrived, and Rocco asked his brother to help him bring in more firewood. Dante made moves to join the boys outside, but Sonny stopped him, advising him to give the brothers a minute alone. Lulu and Laura shared a smile when Dante agreed with his father and stayed behind. Lulu caught Dante staring at the boys through the window, and she urged her ex not to try to control every interaction between the brothers and give Rocco and Gio space to figure out their relationship. Outside, Rocco thanked Gio for giving up a night with Emma to join them, and Gio insisted that the family gathering was important.

Back inside, Sonny and Laura quietly chatted about how they had to protect their family from Sidwell and how they hoped their plan to play along would eventually cause the businessman to let his guard down. After returning inside with the firewood, Rocco declared that he had an announcement. He apologized to Laura for putting her in a difficult position after her election and thanked his family for supporting him through his recent legal issues. Checking in to see how Charlotte was doing, Laura told her granddaughter that she was sure Valentin would be happy to know she was surrounded by family who loved her. Approaching Rocco, Dante told his son he was proud of him for the apology he’d given his grandmother. As Rocco accepted Dante’s handshake, Lulu quipped to Laura that it was a Christmas miracle.

Later, Gio stepped outside just as Emma arrived with mistletoe from Trina. She told him that she’d realized she might have made him feel like he had to fix things with Dante by himself, but she was there to support him. Thanking her, Gio held the mistletoe above his head, and they kissed as the snow fell around them.

Wintry Mix

At the stables, Tracy complained when Outback stole one of her riding gloves, but Cody reminded her that if it wasn’t for the dog, Ronnie could have signed the contract, and she would have lost the house. Tracy replied that her gratitude only went so far because when Outback had moved in, the house belonged to Monica, but now it was hers. Calling her bluff, Cody knew Tracy wouldn’t separate him from his “Princess Pie,” and she smiled. Over a game of backgammon, Tracy revealed that she’d underestimated the weight of leading the family, especially since she never expected to take on the responsibility. When Cody proclaimed that she was up to the task, Tracy chuckled that some would disagree, and he responded that those folks didn’t matter. She was then very intrigued when Cody shared that, like him and Molly, some people see the best in you and appeal to your better nature.

Tracy wanted the details on their involvement, but Cody wasn’t even sure Molly was talking to him, since she’d ghosted him on Thanksgiving. Insisting that Molly would not be orbiting around him if she didn’t see something worthwhile, Tracy advised Cody to see that for himself and take a chance with Molly. With their game over, Tracy prepared to leave, and since it was snowing, Cody walked her back up to the main house.

While he was gone, an excited Molly arrived at the barn, only to find that Cody was not home. After petting Outback, she turned around to leave and saw Cody standing outside in the falling snow. When he asked why she was there, Molly ran outside and kissed him, but when he didn’t return her kiss, she worried that she’d misread things between them. “No,” Cody replied. “You just beat me to it.” Finally, the would-be couple shared a proper kiss after months of dancing around one another.
