General Hospital Recap: Drew Sends Liz An SOS, Ethan and Tracy Reunite, Willow Bribes Jack

Comments

Some interesting conversations took place on the Thursday, April 23, episode of General Hospital. Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) flexed her power with Jack (Chris McKenna), Nina (Cynthia Watros) was alarmed when Drew (Cameron Mathison) blinked out an SOS to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma (Braedyn Bruener) escaped to New York City, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gave Ric (Rick Hearst) the rundown on Ethan (Nathan Dean), Sonny (Maurice Benard) made his expectations clear to Kristina (Kate Mansi), Jacinda (Paige Herschell) was determined to help Michael (Rory Gibson), and Ethan both reunited with Tracy (Jane Elliot) and had a bristly encounter with Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Here’s everything that happened.

Under Pressure

At Willow’s office, she raved to Kai about how invaluable he’d become to her, both at home and work. When Jack Brennan arrived for a meeting, Willow dismissed Kai, asking him to go help Nina with Drew, since the caregiver was off. Curious why she’d summoned him to her office, Jack realized that Willow was aware he’d been blackmailing Nina. Willow leveraged the fact that she sits on the committee that oversees funding for the WSB — and therefore, could block funding or expedite the agency’s cash flow — to get Jack to make sure the incriminating traffic cam footage of her stays gone forever. She also demanded that Jack get her evidence that she could use against Drew — specifically, implicating him in Judge Heran’s death. At that, Jack revealed he knew Willow had shot Drew, and she dangled a possible promotion over his head to get him to play along.

Sending Out An SOS

Over at the Cain house, Nina was annoyed by Drew’s blinking and barked that she knew what Willow had done to him and they wouldn’t let him go until they could ensure he wouldn’t retaliate against them. Elizabeth then arrived to check up on Drew, and Nina went into the other room to make a work call. Drew blinked an SOS to Liz, but she couldn’t understand what else he was trying to relay. When Nina returned, Liz excitedly reported that Drew had been trying to communicate his distress to her. A panicked Nina claimed he’d never done anything like that with her. Kai then arrived to relieve Nina, but she declared she’d cancel her meeting, not wanting to leave anyone else alone with Drew. Liz told Kai that Drew was trying to tell them something and chirped that it was time to introduce other tools for him to communicate. Nina flatly said Willow would be excited to hear about that.

A Whole New World

In New York City, Gio and Emma went to the New Amsterdam Theater and took a photo in front of the Aladdin marquee. A security guard let them in through the stage door, and Gio gave his girlfriend a backstage tour of the theater before they met up with his friend, Michael James Scott (who stars as Genie in the production). Gio told Emma he was excited to watch the show from the audience, since he’d only ever seen it from the pit, and after showing her his old orchestra chair, they took their seats in the house to watch the musical.

His-tory Lesson

Ric visited Alexis at Miller & Davis to ask her about Ethan Lovett, who Sonny had just hired. Ric didn’t trust Luke’s son and wanted Alexis’s opinion on the guy. Defending Ethan, Alexis shared the complicated history between him, Kristina, and Kristina’s abusive ex-boyfriend, Kiefer. Praising Ethan for not hating Kristina even though she’d falsely accused him of being her attacker, then nearly dying at the hands of Kiefer’s crazy father, Alexis reported that he was fiercely loyal, just like Luke.

Still skeptical, Ric pointed out that Ethan was also the son of infamous con woman Holly Sutton and expressed his concern that he’d been sent to Port Charles by one of Sonny’s enemies. In an unusual moment of sympathy for Ric, Alexis reminded him that he always sabotaged relationships because he didn’t think he was good enough and implored him to just let something be “enough” for once.

Trust Issues

Kristina invited Sonny to lunch at the Metro Court Garden, and he correctly figured that she wanted to know what happened with Ethan after she left. Pleased that her dad hired Ethan on a trial basis, Kristina said that Sonny needed someone trustworthy by his side since Jason was gone. Sonny noted that he had Ric, prompting Kristina to express her distrust for Molly’s father. She bristled when he asked why she was getting so hostile, then grumbled that she couldn’t believe Sonny had forgiven Ric for representing Ava in the court case against her. Understanding that Kristina had wanted him to hire Ethan because she felt like she owed him something, Sonny made it clear that while Ethan’s relation to Luke got him to the door, he’d need to earn his place in the Corinthos organization.

Afternoon Delight

Upstairs in a hotel room, Michael and Jacinda sneaked away for a sexy day date. He thanked her for sticking by him despite all his baggage, and she vowed to get Valentin’s location so Brennan would give her the incriminating evidence he had on Willow. Not wanting his girlfriend to get mixed up with Brennan, Michael proclaimed that the best revenge against Willow was to live his best life with Jacinda and his kids.

Later, they went downstairs to the Metro Court Garden and ran into Kristina and Sonny. Kristina shared that Ethan was back in town and would be working for their dad, and also invited Jacinda to sing at the next open mic night at Charlie’s. As Sonny and Michael chatted alone, Sonny said he didn’t expect Ethan to fill Jason’s shoes but needed someone he could trust until Jason returned. Sonny added that because Ethan was known for being erratic, he would need to prove himself. Michael brought up the conflict his dad had with Ethan years ago (when Sonny threatened Ethan after Kristina had named him as her attacker), but Sonny insisted the past was in the past.

Michael rejoined Jacinda, who remained determined o get Charlotte to confide in her so she could feed info to Brennan. Michael replied that Willow was his problem to deal with. Across the dining room, Sonny asked Kristina if Michael and Jacinda were getting serious. Kristina shared that she and Molly had their reservations at first, but she’s come to like her brother’s girlfriend very much. “The thing about Jacinda is what you see is what you get,” Kristina remarked. “Unlike Willow, who turned out to be a completely different person.”

High Spirits

In the main restaurant, Tracy was planning to meet Lulu for lunch and was surprised when Ethan showed up instead. As they caught up, Ethan told Tracy that he’d be working for Sonny. She chuckled that he was like his father, unable to stay away from Sonny, and they reflected on how Luke lived every moment to the fullest. Jenz, who was at another table with Ava, recognized Ethan as Holly and Luke’s son and told his date how Holly had betrayed him. When Jenz sent drinks to Ethan and Tracy, Ethan returned the libations, declaring he couldn’t accept drinks from someone who had repeatedly tried to harm his family. That led to a tense encounter as the foursome exchanged veiled threats. Back at their table, Tracy groused about how Jenz had wormed his way into Deception, and Ethan offered to “take care of him” for her. Tracy warned Ethan to stay away from Sidwell, not wanting to grieve him the way she’d had to grieve his father. “I make no promises,” Ethan smirked, and Tracy sighed that his father hadn’t either.
