General Hospital Recap: Drew Frames Nina for Jack’s Disappearance, Chase Suspects Brook Lynn
On General Hospital on Thursday, September 3, Jack’s (Chris McKenna) “disappearance” was front-and-center. Drew (Cameron Mathison) framed Nina (Cynthia Watros) for the crime, WSB Agent Baines (Alimi Ballard) arrived in town to take over the investigation from Josslyn (Eden McCoy), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Carly (Laura Wright) speculated that Jack skipped town, Ava (Maura West) realized she didn’t make a clean getaway from burying the body, and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) deduced they were the last ones to see Brennan’s corpse. On top of that, Chase (Josh Swickard) and Joe (Jonathan Bennett) compared notes about an ongoing case, and Sonny (Maurice Benard) had a suggestion for Justine (Nazneen Contractor). Vengeance is Mine
At the Metro Court restaurant, Ava met with Drew to make sure they were on the same page about what went down with Jack the night before. Since the hotel security cameras were down, and it was unlikely that anyone would go digging in the nature preserve, they figured Jack’s disappearance couldn’t be traced back to them.
A livid Nina approached their table, upset that Ava was there with Drew. After Drew and Nina traded insults, he exited, and Nina again warned her friend to steer clear of him. Ava kept itching her head as they spoke and was horrified when Nina discovered a tick behind her ear, which she’d picked up while burying Jack’s body in the woods.
Meanwhile, Drew broke into Nina’s car and flashed back to secretly pocketing Brennan’s wallet before dumping him into the grave. Drew then flashed back to Nina pushing his wheelchair into the lake. He planted Jack’s wallet under the car’s seat and grinned, “Payback’s a bitch!”
Fall Guy
Valentin and Charlotte went to Carly’s house for breakfast. While Charlotte was with Donna, Carly told Valentin about Jack’s disappearance. With the security cameras hacked, it was impossible to know where Jack had been. But because he went missing shortly after the three had a confrontation in Carly’s office, Valentin speculated that Jack might have staged his disappearance and framed Valentin to take the fall.
Having overheard the conversation, Charlotte made an excuse about seeing Danny and left. Circling back to Jack’s disappearance, Carly pointed out that Valentin had a solid alibi since he’d been at the shooting range with Anna.
Office Space
After Josslyn reported Jack missing to the WSB, Agent William Baines met her at the Port Charles field office and announced that he was taking over the search for Chief Brennan. Baines instructed her to resume her assignment as CEO of Jasper Jacks Enterprises.
When Josslyn questioned why she was being relegated to a desk job, Baines said the bureau had an interest in the company — and once she got inside information about JJE’s subsidiary holdings, she’d be briefed on the next steps.
Baines asked to be briefed on what Josslyn had learned about Brennan’s disappearance, noting it was possible that Jack took off because of the way he’d botched the Spoon Island mission. As Baines looked through the file she’d had put together on Jack, Josslyn asked him to reconsider letting her aid in the investigation since she had personal ties to some of the people connected, which might be helpful. She then revealed that her mother had witnessed a public altercation between Jack and Nina Reeves.
License Suspended
At the boathouse, Danny confessed to Jason about “borrowing” Chase’s truck the night before to take Charlotte for a ride and denting it on a guard post. Although Jason understood the rush Danny got from speeding (because he and Sam were the same way), he made his son realize that the behavior was risky. Jason banned Danny from driving any vehicles for six months and told him he’d need to pay for the damage to the truck and speedboat.
When Charlotte showed up, Danny apologized for putting her in a situation that could have gotten them both killed, but she assured him that she’d wanted to be with him. She then told Danny that Carly and Valentin believed Brennan was still alive. Since the teens had seen Jack dead in the pool, they realized that someone must have moved the body.
Red Flag
Back at Carly’s house, Jason apologized to Valentin for the joyride Danny had taken Charlotte on the night before. Valentin appreciated the heads-up and requested that whatever punishment Jason bestowed on his son did not include keeping him from Charlotte because Danny’s been a good friend to her.
Carly and Valentin brought Jason up to speed on their theory about Jack, and that Anna was Valentin’s alibi. Jason asked how Anna was doing and was alarmed when Valentin replied that she believed Faison’s children might have been involved in what happened to her.
Vacation Planner
During a clandestine meeting at the studio apartment, Sonny and Justine discussed the enjoyable time they had, together but separate, during his family’s BBQ and Donna’s attempt to play matchmaker for them. Sonny again asked Justine to go public with their relationship now that he was legit, but she still wouldn’t give in. He suggested they take vacations to the same place, where they could coincidentally run into one another, and Justine agreed to think about it. In the meantime, they would continue to meet up in their secret hideaway.
Plot Holes
Over at the PCPD, Chase and Joe went over the evidence in Curtis and Jordan’s car accident since they both had unanswered questions. They concluded that either Lucy or Willow was lying about what they’d seen that night, but Joe was more inclined to think that Lucy wasn’t being truthful. In light of that — and Danny’s throwaway comment about not being the one who’d scraped up Brook Lynn’s car — Chase began to have suspicions about his wife.
