Filming Jada’s bachelorette party – complete with Jell-O shots and a blowup doll – is a day at the office Elia Cantu (Jada) won’t soon forget, as she played the bride-to-be at the center of all the action on Days of our Lives.

Party Time

“The men got the stripper,” recounts Cantu, referring to “Rafe’s” wild bachelor bash. “But the women definitely had a fun party, too. We had some inflatable fun — we had some inflatable action going on! Honestly, it was so much fun. There were some good dynamics at that party and some really sweet moments between Jada, Gabi and Javi, too. I hope the audience loved it.”

Cantu was looking forward to filming the shenanigans from the moment she read about them in the script. “I was very excited that we were doing this,” says Cantu. “As an actor, I loved the bachelorette scenes, because we got to have all the women together.” In the scenes, Jada’s lady gang consisted of Raven Bowens (Chanel), Jackée Harry (Paulina), Cherie Jimenez (Gabi), Abigail Klein (Stephanie) and Martha Madison (Belle). “It’s very rare where you see all of us together having fun and having some real girl time,” the actress points out. “I think that was so much needed on the show, and it was a lot of fun to shoot.”

The drinking game, where the ladies in attendance revealed which past hook-up they regretted the most, stands out as one of the highlights for Cantu. “You got to hear everyone’s different answers and see how the running joke with Salem is that it’s a small town. So everyone’s kind of slept with everyone,” shares Cantu with a laugh. “Well, almost everyone. Jada’s been pretty good. But during that drinking game you got to see that the other women have something in common – let’s just say the men they have in common. You got to know a little bit of the history between everybody in town, and it was some really fun girl talk.”

The most challenging part of the bachelorette party for Cantu and her female co-stars came when it was time to down shots — specifically, Jell-O shots. “That was hilarious, because they were real. Well, not actual alcohol, but they were real Jell-O,” explains Cantu, noting that guzzling them down while still trying to look good was a tad tricky. “You had these full Jell-O [cups], and you were trying to [consume] them, you were trying to suck them up, but you wanted to make it look flattering for the camera, too. We had to shoot this a few times, because somebody would try to suck up the shot and it just wouldn’t come out!”
