Damian Kane is Stabbed in the Back on Young and Restless — Will He Survive?
It would appear that Cane was correct to think that someone was trying to kill him on Young and Restless because a murder attempt was made in the July 14 episode. Unfortunately for the victim, the knife landed in the back of Damaian Kane! Will he survive the attack, or does the violent turn of events mean that Jermaine Rivers’s time on the soap has come to an end? Later in the day after the episode aired, the actor did, in fact, confirm that he was exiting Y&R.
Twisting the Knife
Rivers made his daytime debut when he joined the cast of Y&R back in February 2025, and although Damian didn’t make the best first impression in Genoa City, given that he had someone else impersonate him for a month, he soon found himself putting down roots as he reconnected with his mother and got to know Nate, the half brother he never knew he had. He was also immediately smitten with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and set about winning her over.
When Damian and Lily joined some of Genoa City’s residents in traveling to the lavish estate of Aristotle Dumas in France, they discovered that his former boss was actually Cane Ashby, her estranged ex-husband. Their flirting intensified, and Damian naturally assumed it was all a performance to make a point with Cane, but she insisted her feelings were legit.
After Lily and Damian informed Cane that they were officially a couple, Cane asked his former employee for a word in private. As they shared a bottle of whiskey, Cane assured Damian that he would back off and urged him not to hurt Lily the way he had. The two men began bonding as they talked about their parents until Damian began to feel woozy.
Cane dismissed the idea that he would try to poison Damian, noting that he had been drinking from the same bottle. However, he also began to feel the effects of what he had imbibed and realized something was terribly wrong. As the other guests became lost in the elaborate hedge maze, a shadowy figure threw a dagger at the two men, striking Damian in the back! He fell into Cane’s arms just as Phyllis walked up to take in the scene.
