Josh and Reva Wed On Guiding Light And Other Big Moments in Soap History From July 14

In 1989, Josh (Robert Newman) and Reva’s (Kim Zimmer) Cross Creek wedding began on Guiding Light. This was the first marriage for the show's signature supercouple. The ceremony took place at Cross Creek, Oklahoma, with scenes shot on location in Midland, Pennsylvania. Reva arrived in a rowboat steered by her secret son, Dylan, and was helped to shore by her beaming groom, who asked, “Will you marry me?” “Gee, I think I’d like that,” she cooed in response.

In 2004, General Hospital’s Lila Quartermaine passed away. Lila's death was scripted following the real-life death of her portrayer, Anna Lee, on May 14, 2004. The esteemed actress first joined the Port Charles ranks in 1979. Speaking of his on-screen grandmother to Soap Opera Digest in 2016, Wally Kurth (Ned) recalled that Lee was "an actor that just adored being a performer and adored being an actress and loved Lila and loved being onstage and being at the studio.” In 2023, Steve Burton (Jason), another one of Lee's on-screen grandchildren, shared with Digest, "She was the sweetest lady ever. She had two different wheelchairs, one at home and one at work, and sometimes she would kind of forget how to operate it at work and Craig McManus, the stage manager that’s been there forever, would always have to make an announcement like, ‘Anna Lee is coming to set,’ because she would bump into furniture."

In 2008, Katie Logan (Heather Tom, c.), who was secretly in love with the groom, Nick (Jack Wagner), officiated his wedding to Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones), her niece, on Bold and Beautiful. Lani had never given up hope of finding Abe and she eventually tracked him down to Whitley's home! In time, Abe recovered his memory and resumed his normal life.
