Five Things That Happened On December 5 In Soap History

In 1990, a comatose Jake McKinnon (Tom Eplin), who had been shot by a mystery assailant that turned out to be his future wife, Paulina Cory, dreamed of playing poker with the suspects in his shooting on Another World. Among the contenders was Vicky Hudson, his childhood best friend (who he would go on to marry years later). On the night he was shot, Jake had raped Vicky's twin sister, Marley Love, his former wife.

In 1996, Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) married Stefan Cassadine (Stephen Nichols) on General Hospital with only Alexis, Nikolas and Lucas in attendance. Stefan had courted Bobbie in large part to stick it to her brother, Luke, his sworn enemy. Bobbie, meanwhile, was vulnerable to Stefan's charms as she was still reeling from having caught her husband, Tony Jones, in bed with Carly Roberts (who she would later find out was her daughter). The marriage was somewhat spur of the moment, and took place at Wyndemere, where Stefan had surprised Bobbie with a selection of wedding gowns to choose from. After the ceremony, Stefan put a necklace with the Cassadine family crest around Bobbie's neck and told her she was a Cassadine now.

In 2008, Phoebe (Mackenzie Mauzy) died in her father Ridge’s (Ronn Moss) arms on Bold and Beautiful. Phoebe had discovered that her twin, Steffy, had been kissed by Rick without her consent and angrily confronted him while the pair were in a car she was driving. Distracted, Phoebe lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Ridge rushed to the accident site, where he found his mortally wounded daughter. Disoriented, she begged her father to hear her sing one last time. “I close my eyes and think you’re always there…” she warbled before dying in her brokenhearted father’s arms.

In 2008, Florencia Lozano (pictured with Kamar de los Reyes as Antonio Vega, Téa's cousin) returned to One Life To Live as Téa. She had originally played the role from 1997-2000 and had returned for a limited arc in 2002. Lozano remained with the series through to its final episode in 2012, after which she crossed over to General Hospital as Téa, then reprised the role on the short-lived 2013 OLTL online reboot.

In 2018, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) went on their official first date on Days of Our Lives. Given that Ben was persona non grata in Salem, he was refused service at Doug's Place by Julie. He and his future wife ended up enjoying one another's company at the park. Ciara was not happy when Ben reported that his new job was working for Stefan, but he assured her that he would not do anything to jeopardize their burgeoning relationship.
