“This was just a little hiccup but during the ceremony, Nikki realized that I had my vows and turned to her maid of honor, hoping she had hers and she didn’t. Nobody had them, so we had to put the ceremony on pause so we could look around for them. Nikki’s maid of honor ran off the stage and went into the girls’ room, where there like 15 purses, and she was searching though every purse, because you know how the bride will give them all a gift? Well, the purses were the gift so they were all identical, and no one knew which had the vows in it. But she found them and came back and you would never know it from the very well-edited wedding video.”

“We hired my band teacher from middle school, and his 13 piece band performed at our wedding and at the reception. For some reason, I kept getting on the microphone every half hour to thank people for coming and especially [gave] thanks to my middle school band teacher, Mr. Siler. I probably gave thanks a 100 times that night. My poor husband kept following me up on the stage because he didn’t know if he would have to cut in, but I just couldn’t thank Mr. Siler enough. I just loved getting on that microphone.”

“The first time that I saw her walking down the aisle. Right when she walked down, I just kept telling myself, ‘Memorize every detail.’ I wanted to memorize every detail of her face, every detail of her walk, everything; that’s what stood out. I tried to be super-present and just memorize every little moment. As soon as our wedding was over, the adrenaline kind of wore off and all of the beers and the shots [I had before the ceremony] finally kicked in!”

“Finola’s [Hughes, Anna, GH] husband, Russell, advised us to take a moment to slip off together and acknowledge the fact that you are married and everyone is there to celebrate you. So, we did that. During the middle of the party, we snuck off and got reminiscent with each other and celebrated the fact that we had our friends and family celebrating with us. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

“One of my favorite memories was after the reception. Our wedding venue was a beautiful, historic bed-and-breakfast near Saratoga Springs, NY. We rented out the entire grounds for the weekend — ceremony in the yard, dinner on the deck, dancing in the barn and we had our wedding party staying in the gorgeous rooms in the house. After the wedding guests left and the music died, we all put on comfy clothes and sat out on the back porch laughing, drinking and eating the leftover desserts that we never touched at the wedding, because we were too busy dancing! It was our siblings and closest friends — perfect way to end the day.”

“James and I were together 14 years before we got married, and I didn’t think I wanted to get married. I always said, ‘It’s just a piece of paper. It doesn’t mean anything. We’re as married as anyone we know.’ So, when we decided to get married, I was like, ‘Let’s just go to City Hall and get married,’ and James said, ‘No, if we’re going to get married, we are going to stand up in front of our friends and family and say vows to each other,’ and so we did. We did it in our backyard. We had 120 people and there wasn’t a square to spare because there’s not a whole lot of outside area, and there’s a hill. We had a diagram drawn up. It was such a math problem, but it was exactly what I wanted. I think one of the reasons it took so long for me to get married is that weddings take soooo long on soaps [laughs]. Ultimately, the ceremony was like 20 minutes and I was like, ‘Oh, that wasn’t too bad!’ ”
