In 1995, The City debuted on ABC. Morgan Fairchild, who played Sydney Chase, received top billing for the new series, which was a rebranded, rebooted version of Loving, which had run on the network from 1983-95. The City was co-created by Agnes Nixon, co-creator of Loving, and Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown. Set in the Soho neighborhood of New York City, it incorporated Loving characters such as Laura Wright's Ally Rescott Alden and Debbi Morgan's Angie Hubbard Foster, along with new characters. In 2003, One Life To Live's Blair Cramer Manning (Kassie DePaiva) wed “Walker Laurence" (Trevor St. John), who, unbeknownst to her, was actually her presumed-dead ex-husband, Todd Manning, who had undergone extensive facial reconstruction surgery and had adopted a new identity. "Walker" was exposed, and Todd reclaimed his life ... but years later, it was revealed that "Todd" was actually an impostor, as well; he was really Victor Lord, Jr., Todd's surprise twin, who had been brainwashed to take over Todd's identity.

In 2006, Bradford Anderson (l., pictured with Steve Burton as Jason Morgan) debuted as General Hospital's Damian Spinelli. The actor recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2023, “I had been in L.A. for about a year and had done a few episodes of Veronica Mars, and I turned down an audition for a play in San Diego because I was like, ‘No, I’ve got to stay in L.A. and try [to book something].’ Two weeks later, I booked GH. I couldn’t believe a character like this was going to be on a soap! But at the same time, I didn’t really know anything about soaps. I remember sitting in my one-bedroom apartment, trying to figure out what kind of voice this guy would have. Anyway, when I got it, I was like, ‘Wow, this could be for three months? That’s unheard of! That’s amazing! I know I’ll be eating for at least three months!’ "

In 2009, Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) said, “I do" on Bold and Beautiful. When her father, Stephen Logan, escorted her down the aisle, Bill beamed to his bride, "You take my breath away." After heartfelt word by some of the couple's loved ones, it was time to exchange rings and vows. Katie told Bill, "You've changed me.
