In 1971, Erika Slezak made her One Life to Live debut as Victoria Lord. She assumed the role from Joanne Dorion, who had briefly played Viki after the original Viki, Gillian Spencer, ended her 1968-71 run. Slezak would go on to play Viki until OLTL's cancellation in 2012, and became one of the most acclaimed actresses in daytime history, winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress a whopping six times.

In 1989, Jane Elliot (pictured with Kin Shriner as Scotty Baldwin) returned to General Hospital as Tracy Quartermaine, a role she had originally played from 1977-80. After ending her first run on GH (for which she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress), Elliot went on to play Carrie Todd on Guiding Light, Cynthia Preston on All My Children and Anjelica Deveraux on Days of Our Lives, a role she had only recently when she made her way back to Port Charles.

In 2003, General Hospital's Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was declared not guilty of Luis Alcazar’s murder by reason of temporary insanity. Her relief over her acquittal was dampened by Ned Ashton securing temporary custody of Alexis's young daughter, Kristina (at the time, Alexis was pretending that Ned was Kristina's biological father, but in truth, the young girl had been sired by Sonny Corinthos).

In 2008, All My Children’s Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) pleadsed guilty — and was sent to federal prison — for insider trading. There, she bonded with her cellmate, Carmen (Elizabeth Rodriguez), who was known as Sugar. During Erica's months-long stay in the slammer, she was visited by Warren Buffett, who offered her financial advice.

In 2009 on Days of Our Lives, Lucas Roberts (Bryan R. Dattilo) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) wed. Chloe had fallen for (and become intimate) with Dr. Daniel Jonas, and intended to call off the engagement, but when Lucas was injured in an explosion, Chloe made a solemn promise to God that if Lucas pulled through, she would be a devoted wife to him and an equally devoted stepmother to his young daughter, Allie. Lucas did survive, and he and Chloe quickly flew to Las Vegas to elope.
