Five Things That Happened On December 3 In Soap History

In 1993, Jon Lindstrom (pictured with Lynn Herring as Lucy Coe) made his first General Hospital appearance as Kevin Collins. The previous year, he had joined the show as Kevin's psychotic, serial-killing twin brother, Ryan Chamberlain. Lindstrom recalled to Digest in 2023 that during his initial run as Ryan, "everyone seemed to be talking about Ryan and Felicia and Mac and this great triangle that was playing out. And then I got offered another job, the role of Damian Grimaldi on As The World Turns. So I went to [GH’s execs] and said, ‘Listen, I’d just as soon stay here; I like this job and I’d like to stay on.’ And that’s when they came up with Kevin Collins and signed me to a contract."

In 1994 on All My Children, Harold the Dog halted the would-be wedding of Trevor Dillon (James Kiberd) to "Jane Cox" (Robin Mattson). After Janet Marlowe, Trevor's stalkerish, murderous baby mama and ex-sister-in-law, went to jail, she underwent experimental plastic surgery to win an early release and slithered back into Pine Valley society as "Jane Cox," taking up with a clueless Trevor. The only member of the Dillon family (which included Tommy Michaels's Timmy, son of her late sister, Natalie) to see through the ruse was Janet's old nemesis, canine Harold — so she drugged her furry foe and put him on a moving van bound for California. Harold made his way back to Pine Valley, arriving at the nups with the incriminating pill bottle just as his master was about to get hitched to "Jane." Harold attacked the bride, giving Trev's pal Jackson enough time to expose her as Janet.

In 2003, future General Hospital supercouple Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) met for the first time. Their encounter took place in the interrogation room at the PCPD. "It must be crowded around here if the cops have got to double up on two total strangers, huh?" observed Sam. Jason, who knew that Scott was using Sam to get to Sonny, replied, "I don't think it's a mistake." He elaborated, "They're hoping to get something out of it — your testimony against me."  She responded, "Well, I might be willing if I had any idea who you are. I'm Sam. Sam McCall. I'm in for aiding and abetting Sonny Corinthos." "Jason Morgan," he said. "Me, too."

In 2008, Jon Lindstrom made his As The World Turns debut as Craig Montgomery. He was the fourth and final actor to hold the role, following Scott Bryce, Hunt Block and Jeffrey Meek. There, he would work opposite two actors who he ended up sharing the screen with upon his subsequent return to General Hospital as both Kevin and Ryan, Maura West (ATWT's Carly, GH's Ava) and Roger Howarth (ATWT's Paul, GH's Franco). Lindstrom also married one of his ATWT co-stars, Cady McClain (Rosanna), but they split in 2024.

In 2013 on General Hospital, after a recently rescued Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) had watched from afar as her "widower," Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson), married Sabrina Castillo, Robin and Patrick's young daughter, Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer), spotted her mom in the back of the church. Robin had been presumed dead since 2012, and Emma ran into her mom's arms. Robin scooped her daughter up and held her tightly as she locked eyes with a flabbergasted Patrick. He approached her slowly, gasping, "Is this a dream? Is this real?" A crestfallen Sabrina crumpled to the floor as her groom kissed his wife.
