Playing With Fire: DAYS’s EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Belle (Martha Madison) just can’t fight the feeling.

After a one-night stand back in 2022, Days of our Lives has reignited EJ and Belle’s taboo relationship. The pair fell into the sack after attending “Rafe” and Jada’s respective bachelor/bachelorette parties and succumbed to passion again when Belle stormed into the DiMera mansion to tell EJ that their sexual escapades were over (so much for that!). The question is: Is the story turn hot or not?

EJ and Belle: Round Two

On the hot side, there’s nothing quite as enticing on as soap as a forbidden coupling, and Belle having sex with her sister Sami’s ex definitely fuels that fire. While Belle is no saint — she’s had her share of affairs in the past, a few while she was still married to Shawn — nothing compares to romping with EJ. He’s a conniving bad boy, so getting involved with him has the potential to transform her character in interesting ways. Could the respected attorney and current DA possibly start crossing the line under EJ’s influence? It would be an intriguing change for the normally by-the-book Belle. Plus, Martha Madison (Belle) and Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) have generated some titillating chemistry as two characters who simply can’t deny their animal attraction to one another. They seem compelled to rip each other’s clothes off whenever they’re alone in a room together. In the world of daytime drama, it’s hard not to move forward with that kind of steam, no matter what the backstory — and potentially, that backstory could also inject juicy tension in Belle’s relationships with various members of her family, from Marlena to Sami (who, we know, will be visiting Salem later this year) to Eric.

On the “not” so hot side is EJ’s past — specifically as it relates to Belle’s beloved family. Her mother, Marlena, has already voiced her strong disapproval and disappointment over Belle sleeping with the unscrupulous rogue, and she has plenty of reasons to be taken aback by it. Remember when EJ held Rafe hostage, a stunt he’s currently pulling again, and sent Arnold to take his place, essentially allowing Sami’s rape at the hands of the impostor? And let’s not forget that EJ himself raped Sami in 2006, when he forced her to have sex with him in exchange for saving Lucas’s life. When you factor in all the ways EJ has abused Sami, the fact that he once tried to kill Belle’s father, John, and his dirty deeds against her half brothers, Eric and Brady — particularly, ripping Eric’s son, Jude, away from him and claiming the boy as his own —it’s hard to fathom how his sins and misdeeds wouldn’t be enough to deter her from following her lust for him. Yet, for some reason, all logic and sense seem to fly out the window when Belle comes in contact with the DiMera scoundrel. Unfortunately, it paints the character that viewers have long loved and respected as unrecognizable.
