Young and the Restless Star Camryn Grimes Is A Married Woman! Get the Details of Her Wedding

Comments

Congratulations are in order for Daytime Emmy-winning Young and Restless star Camryn Grimes (Mariah). She and her longtime love, Brock Powell, tied the knot in a destination wedding on November 8 in New Orleans, LA.

Road To The Altar

Grimes and Powell became an item in 2020 after Powell, a voice-over artist for Disney animation, helped Grimes prepare a voice-over demo at the urging of her Y&R co-star Bryton James (Devon). They got acquainted over the phone when the Covid epidemic made face-to-face dating tricking. She recalled to Soap Opera Digest, “We just started chatting and then it was just sort of like we never stopped talking, so it was endless FaceTime calls. It had been probably since high school where I’d wake up and wanted to talk to that person all day long until it was night. I don’t even like talking on the phone and here I was, gabbing for hours and hours. This went on for a few weeks until I realized, ‘Oh, I’m very drawn to this person.’ I was committed to being single and for the first time, I thought, ‘If I keep going down this path, then he’s the one.’”

The lovebirds got engaged in 2022, when he surprised her with a marriage proposal on her birthday, January 7. Grimes told Digest that when Powell first popped the question, “Apparently, I kind of blacked out. I mean, I remember the whole thing but watching the video back, everybody was making fun of me because the only thing that I was saying for a good five-to-10 minutes was, ‘Oh, my God! Oh, my God!’ And so he had to ask a couple of times.”

Early in 2023, the couple learned they were expecting. Grimes gushed to Digest, “We were over-the-moon happy. As we shared the news, it was so heartwarming to see people excited for me because becoming a mother is something that I’ve wanted for a long, long time.”

On December 13, 2023, the duo became first-time parents with the birth of their son, Bridger Elias Powell. Grimes shared with Digest, “When they put him on me and he cried, I was doing the same thing [I did] after Brock proposed to me; I was just going, ‘Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.’ It was all I knew to say. It’s kind of crazy — you spend nine months of being pregnant, fully aware of everything that’s going on, but your belly doesn’t come with a window, so [giving birth] can be the most shocking thing. You could have all of the knowledge of what is happening and still the second that that baby comes out, you’re like, ‘What?! That was in there the whole time?!” It feels like a magic trick. I still have trouble wrapping my brain around it. I look at him now and I’m like, ‘You’re here because I cooked you.'”

At the time, the actress explained to Digest that Bridger’s arrival had put their wedding plans on hold. “Luckily, we had made a lot of like decisions about what we wanted, but I’m sure those details will change,” she mused. “Having a kid has made me rethink some things financially; plus, I don’t feel any pressure to get married. We’re still looking forward to a wedding but only when it works for us. If our first year of parenthood becomes stressful, then we’ll wait until 2025. There’s no time limit.”

Southern Charm

Ultimately, Grimes and Powell opted for a destination wedding and traveled to New Orleans for a ceremony attended by family and friends. The 75-person guest list included Grimes’s uncle, actor Scott Grimes (ex-Will, Party of Five) as well as friends from the soap opera community, such as Y&R co-star Hayley Erin (Claire), her longtime bestie, and General Hospital alum Robert Palmer Watkins (ex-Dillon).

Chatting about their special day exclusively with People, the couple explained that they chose the venue, The Columns Hotel, because it fit the vibe they were going for, with the bride noting, “It’s a little moody, a little funky but at the same time very classy and historic.” The bride wore a simple but sophisticated two-piece outfit from KYHA Studios, while the groom donned a rich green suit.

The ceremony incorporated a number of personal touches, such as Grimes walking down the aisle to “Dearly Beloved” by Yoko Shimomura, a theme from the Kingdom Hearts video games, and the Celtic ritual of handfasting, a nod to Grimes and Powell’s shared Scottish and Irish roots. They also wrote their own vows. Both self-professed Disney super-fans, the couple chose a very special officiant for the wedding: Bill Rogers, who has earned the nickname “The Voice of Disneyland” for the announcements he recorded for the theme park. At the lively reception, the couple shared their first dance to Stevie Nicks’s “Crystal.”

Following the wedding, Grimes and Powell planned a family trip to New Zealand followed by a newlyweds-only jaunt to Fiji.

Digest sends its warmest wishes to the couple as they embark on this new chapter of their lives together.
