Young and Restless’s New Noah ‘Got Himself Wrapped up in Some Rough People,’ Previews Lucas Adams

Comments

The new Noah Newman debuts in the November 4 episode of Young and Restless when Lucas Adams — previously Days of Our Lives’s Tripp Dalton — steps into the role of Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) son. Previously played by Rory Gibson (now General Hospital’s Michael), Noah was last seen on screen in April 2023 — and in the intervening years, he has gone through some big changes, not the least of which was the car crash that nearly killed him. “Noah is a good kid who got himself wrapped up in some rough people,” Adams told TV Insider. “[He] has a great heart, and I think that he’s always trying to do the best for everyone around him.”

The Newest Newman

When Adams first auditioned for Y&R, the role he was up for was being kept under wraps, but based on the few details the show provided to him, Adams suspected that the character was Noah, and his hunch was proven correct when his screen test was with the character’s TV parents, Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow. Adams reported that he hit it off with both actors on the day of the test. “We were chit-chatting in the waiting room beforehand and kind of bonded a little bit and got to go over the scene some,” he said. “After we did the scene, it just felt really good. I felt really strongly about it, and when I got the call that I got it, I was just over the moon and couldn’t wait to get to work.”

Still, the gravity of coming into the Genoa City scene as a Newman — one of the most important families not only on the show, but in all of daytime television — wasn’t lost on Adams, who admitted, “I definitely felt the weight. I knew this was a very big deal, and this is a very big family, so I felt that nervousness to come in.”

When it was time to start filming, Adams had to deal with an added degree of difficulty in the form of the copious amounts of bandages covering up Noah’s face in the wake of that horrific car crash. Recalled the actor, “My first scenes with all that on, I was like, ‘Okay, I have to act through my eyes and my voice here, so let’s hope that the chops are up for it.”

While this new role has reunited the actor with former castmates Tamara Braun (Sienna; ex-Ava, DAYS) and Billy Flynn (Cane; Chad, DAYS), he has also enjoyed getting to know a whole new cast and crew. Reported Adams: “I can’t speak highly enough of how welcoming everybody was — cast, crew, everybody in between — and just made me feel right at home right away.”

Now that he’s settled in to his new place of work and his new alter ego, Adams enthused, “I’m just really looking forward to my next chapter,” and teased, “These storylines are already going in such a fun direction, and I’m stoked for the fans to see them.”
