Young and Restless Star Bryton James Crosses Over to Beyond The Gates as Devon
CBS Daytime has been hosting crossovers between Young and Restless and Bold and Beautiful for years. Now it’s Beyond the Gates‘s turn to get in on the fun as the network’s newest entry hosts its very first crossover event!
A Familiar Face
A new promo for BTG revealed the identity of a very special guest who will be making his way from Genoa City to Fairmont Crest: fan favorite and Daytime Emmy winner Bryton James, who has starred on Y&R as Devon Winters since 2004. The clip shows Devon interacting with the matriarch of the Dupree family, Anita, played by series star Tamara Tunie.
BTG’s Karla Mosley (Dani) shared the sneak peek, which you can see below in its entirety, on her official Instagram account and wrote, “Articulette’s concert, more Dani drama (obvs), and a Devon Winters sighting in Fairmont Crest?!!!!!!!! This looks like a WEEK, y’all!”
In the promo Mosley posted, there is a first look at the long-awaited reunion concert for The Articulettes, featuring Anita’s return to the stage after decades away, raising her dynasty with Vernon (Clifton Davis). Next, a few scenes that have already happened are shown, like Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) kissing on her bed, Martin (Brandon Claybon) looking upset, Dani showing her furious side when she spots Andre (Sean Freeman) holding hands with Ashley (Jen Jacob) at Uptown, but that’s it for the past. The next scene shows James’s grand entrance on the new soap as Anita says, “Devon! Welcome to Fairmont Crest.”
Of course, what the promo doesn’t give away is what brings Devon all the way to the DMV from Genoa City. As Y&R fans know, the character runs a very successful company that has a music division. Has news of the reunion concert spurred him to see dollar signs, wanting to sign the reunited group to a lucrative recording contract? Or is there some non-business reason the mogul has flown east to meet with the Duprees?
Tune in to find out — and fans of the CBS lineup should keep tuning in, as Soap Opera Digest hears that James isn’t the only well-known face slated to make a crossover appearance on BTG….
