Young and Restless 2025 Fall Preview: A ‘Nuclear Bomb of Emotion and Suspense’ Heads For Genoa City!
It’s going to be a drama-filled fall on Young and Restless, and Executive Producer/Head Writer Josh Griffith gave a glimpse into all the upcoming twists and turns in a new interview with TV Insider, declaring, “We’re really playing to the show’s strengths of family and power and romance and mystery.” Keep reading for the inside scoop on what Griffith calls “a nuclear bomb of emotion and suspense” that’s headed to Genoa City!
Connected Four
While the scribe didn’t give away specific details of the mystery role Roger Howarth (ex-Franco, General Hospital et al) will be playing or just how Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, Days of Our Lives et al) factors into the canvas when she debuts as Sienna Bacall, he did stress that along with new hires Lucas Adams (Noah; ex-Tripp, DAYS) and Matt Cohen (Detective Burrow; ex-Griffin, GH), the quartet of recent hires “will be integrally mixed with our core characters” and are “here to propel story for our legacy characters.”
All four actors tie into a new mystery that pivots around Nick and Sharon and their efforts to rescue Noah from “a very dangerous situation that will involve Tamara and Roger’s characters.” Griffith teased that Noah will be edgier than he used to be — and that this will cause friction between him and Nick. He also noted that Noah and Audra’s history won’t be forgotten about as he’s reintroduced to Genoa City…
Allied Forces
Nick and Sharon aren’t the only longtime favorites who will be heavily involved in fall storyline. Griffith reported that Victor and Nikki, along with Jack and Diane, will be busy contending with “the potential wrecking ball that is Cane” — and fighting off Cane might force Victor and Jack, whose rivalry is legendary, to actually work together. “That said, we all know that it can’t last,” Griffith acknowledged.
Speaking of Cane, power-mongering isn’t the only thing on his agenda this fall. According to Griffith, the triangle between Phyllis, Cane and Lily is going to heat up in a major way. In his view, “Phyllis is attracted to Dumas,” the persona Cane created for himself in his years away from Genoa City, “and Lily is in love with Cane.” Will he choose power (Dumas) or love (Cane)?
While Lily is grappling with her feelings for her ex-husband, her brother, Devon, will get entangled with the ongoing saga of Mariah’s secret trauma — which is about to go public, with big consequences for her wife, Tessa, as well as Daniel, who has been slowly but surely falling in love with Tessa. Devon’s story intersects with theirs in a way that poses “a threat to his family,” Griffith hinted.
Unhappily Ever After?
Mariah and Tessa won’t be the only duo facing a major challenge to domestic bliss. Griffith shared that Billy’s obsession with regaining Chancellor might sink his relationship with Sally — and not only that, but when Jess Walton returns as Jill, her closeness to (and respect for) Cane will “feed into Billy’s own insecurity and anger.” Meanwhile, the “wilder, more edgy adventure” Holden offers Claire might leave Kyle out in the cold. Trust issues may keep Nate from ever giving Audra another chance — which, in turn, could send him back into Victoria’s arms. And a job offer from Cane to Michael makes waves in his marriage to Lauren.
Adam and Chelsea find themselves squarely in the path of Cane’s mission to consolidate power in Genoa City and will be working together to fight off the challenges Cane throws their way — but that could very well wind up being a problem. Griffith said that over the course of the story, “we’ll see that the side of Chelsea that is more like Adam than maybe she even knew starting to come out.” And when has that ever been a good thing?!
At least one couple is happy, and that’s Danny and Christine. Griffith revealed that their long-awaited second wedding is scheduled to take place in November and will be a “two-day standalone event” — one that Phyllis will do everything in her power to stop from being the wedding day of their dreams!
