What Should General Hospital’s Carly Do About Her Lying Boyfriend Jack Brennan? Vote Now!
Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) was dealt one heck of a blow last week on General Hospital when her best friend, Jason (Steve Burton), dropped a truth bomb and revealed that her boyfriend, Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), was not only lying to her but had also recruited Carly’s daughter Josslyn (Eden McCoy) to be a WSB agent — just like him. Carly’s world has been turned upside down by this revelation, especially since she’s unable to confront either Joss or Brennan, because Jason pointed out to her that blowing Joss’s cover could endanger her life or cause the young agent to be reassigned to a faraway location — and that Carly may never see her again.
The Heart of the Matter
So, what should Carly do about her relationship with the bureau chief of the local division of the WSB? She knew there were going to be times when Brennan couldn’t tell her the truth. He made no secret (pun intended) of the fact that, as a spy, there would be things he had to keep from her. Still, she believed it wouldn’t be anything that directly affected her or her family — or at least, that’s what he led her to believe. But actively recruiting her daughter couldn’t be more personal.
When Carly confronted her beau about Joss’s ex-boyfriend Vaughn being a WSB agent all along, he swore to her that he’d made sure Joss was never in danger during the time she spent with the young man. But Jason made sure Carly knew that Joss had been in serious danger when he found her with Vaughn in Croatia at the Five Poppies Resort. So it’s pretty clear to Carly Brennan knowingly lied to her — and put her daughter in serious danger.
Brennan’s relatively new to Port Charles, so he may not have gotten the memo: no one messes with Carly’s kids and gets away with it. Anna even tried to warn him there would be hell to pay if Carly ever found out he’d turned her daughter into a WSB agent, but he played with fire nonetheless. What do you think Carly should do about Jack’s deception — and do you hope this is the end of the line for the couple or just a (very big) obstacle for them to overcome?
