The Bold and the Beautiful Reveals Dylan & Remy Are Cousins — Sydney Bullock Speaks Out
The May 4 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful delivered a surprise reveal to viewers that Remy (Christian Weissman) is actually Dylan’s cousin, adding a new layer to the character’s increasingly complicated storyline life. Sydney Bullock (Dylan) opened up about the startling new development in a new interview with TV Insider.
Family Ties
Bullock made her B&B debut as Dylan, an art teacher menaced by Luna (Lisa Yamada), and returned later that year when Dylan revealed that she’d struck and killed Luna with her car. The show soon signed her to a contract and moved her into a front-burning love triangle with Crew Morrow’s Will and Laneya Grace’s Electra. But getting a family member puts both actress and character on the map in a whole new way!
Marveled Bullock in her interview, “I was not expecting that at all. But I am so excited to work with Christian [Weissmann]. He’s such a doll. I’d heard nothing but wonderful things about him, and they were all true.”
Weissman may be adored by his castmates, but his alter ego is definitely persona non grata among the Forresters given that he had nearly ruined Electra’s life several times over. And using a voice scrambler to disguise his identity when calling Dylan to warn her that they had “unfinished business” and showing up at Forrester Creations in a wig isn’t helping matters.
Bullock acknowledged that finding out about Remy’s ugly past is “very shocking for Dylan.” She added, “She’s seeing a whole new side to her cousin, to her family member, and she’s a little bit at a loss of what to do. Remy has a tricky past, and from Dylan’s perspective, she just does not know what to expect from him. So it’s almost like talking to a stranger, but it’s her cousin.”
The timing isn’t great for Dylan, either, given that she had only recently (kind of) smoothed things over with Electra, who had accused her of trying to steal Will. Learning that Dylan is Remy’s cousin will almost certainly go over like a lead balloon with Electra and everyone else in their orbit. And not even Dylan has a handle on how to navigate this potential minefield. “She’s so stressed,” Bullock said. “I think she’s really anxious and has no idea what’s going to happen and whether it’s going to be a secret or not. She doesn’t really want to upset Electra, but has no idea how to even go about this.”
Whatever unfolds from here, the daytime newcomer said she is excited for Dylan to have a relative on the soap — one that isn’t a Logan, Forrester or Spencer, which offers more potential for future storylines. Without bearing those last names, “You’re still a little bit on the outside,” she noted. “There’s still the mystery of their family and how all that ties with everyone else, so you have a lot more to dig [into] and figure out about them.”
Bullock hopes the Remy reveal does lead to more exploration of her character’s background. “I would love to learn more about Dylan and where she came from, why she is the way she is, and why she makes the decisions she makes,” she enthused.
