What Happened to Sophia on Days of Our Lives
The character of Sophia hasn’t been on Days of Our Lives long but she’s already gotten mixed up in plenty of drama! The character first appeared on April 23, 2024, played by Madelyn Kientz, who was then moved from recurring to contract status with the soap by October. However, in January 2025, it was announced that the role was being recast with Rachel Boyd beginning with the Feb. 12 episode.
Sophia Choi was first seen as a school friend of Holly Jonas who joined her at the Brady Pub where they chatted about Tate Black, who was waiting tables there. After Holly denied still having feelings for Tate, Sophia persuaded him to take her to the prom. However, after learning that Tate planned to ditch her at the prom and meet up with Holly, who he was forbidden from seeing, she told his parents about the arrangement.
Learning that Tate and Holly were lying about splitting up and that he convinced Aaron Greene to go to lacrosse camp in his place so they could still spend time together, Sophia blackmailed Holly into doing her shifts at The Bistro and giving her the money. She tried seducing Tate at the Horton cabin where he was staying while supposedly at camp, but Holly interrupted. Sophia then began planting seeds making Holly wonder why she and Tate hadn’t slept together yet.
When Tate and Holly were on the outs after she discovered that his father, Brady Black, was responsible for the death of her own father years ago, Sophia took full advantage of the opportunity. She began spending more and more time with Tate, offering him comfort and ultimately getting him into bed to keep him. When she found out she was pregnant, Sophia told Tate, who offered to help her get an abortion. After Holly discovered the truth, Sophia’s mother, Amy Choi, also found out and insisted that she and Tate would get married and raise the baby together. Never mind that Tate was back together with Holly!
As 2025 began, Tate promised to support Sophia whatever she decided and discussed adoption, but she wasn’t sure her religious mother would even go for that option. After their first ultrasound, Sophia was upset that her mother wouldn’t approve adoption and was not allowing her to go to college, either.
