Returning General Hospital Star Nathan Dean Expecting Baby No. 3
On March 22, returning General Hospital star Nathan Dean (Ethan Lovett) — previously known as Nathan Parsons — posted a photo to his Instagram of two Taco Bell mild sauce packets with the phrases “Play. It. Cool.” and “It’s a secret” emblazoned on them. Later that day, Dean revealed what said secret was when he shared another photo announcing that he and his wife, Kate, were expecting another baby!
Baby Makes Five
In the picture, Dean is proudly holding up a sonogram photo while wearing a baseball cap that says “Dad.” The mom-to-be is wearing a T-shirt that plays on the episode titles of the hit sitcom Friends, reading, “The one where everyone finds out I’m pregnant.” The couple is holding up their drinks as food from Taco Bell is spread out on the table before them.
“We didn’t want to be cheesy, but we think this next chapter is going to be a Baja Blast!” Dean cheekily captioned the pic. “I’m so lucky and blessed to have this wonderful woman in my life. She made me whole. And I can’t wait to see where this journey goes.” The caption ends with both a pink and blue heart emoji as the baby’s sex has not yet been revealed, followed by the hashtags “#babydean,” “#from4to5,” “#babynumber3,” and “#tacobellcravings.” The new baby will have a big brother and a big sister waiting for him or her; while Dean’s wife’s Instagram is private, her public bio on the social media platform reads, “Happy mom to an adorable little boy and a beautiful little girl.”
The comments on Dean’s post filled up with congratulatory wishes from fans and friends, including Kristen Alderson, who joined the cast of GH back in 2012 as Starr Manning shortly before Dean exited. “Aw yay!” she wrote. “Congratulations!” Claudio Gama, the widower of Dean’s TV father, Anthony Geary (ex-Luke), also wished the couple congratulations, adding a party popper emoji for good measure. Chris McKenna (Jack, GH) and Courtney Hope (Sally, The Young and the Restless) were among those who “liked” the post.
Dean joined the cast of GH back in January 2009 and received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in 2012. After exiting the soap in March 2012, the actor returned for brief visits in 2013, 2015, and 2020. Dean went on to appear in primetime series like Bunheads, True Blood, The Originals, and Roswell, New Mexico.
The news broke back on March 5 that the actor would be returning to GH as Ethan. “So excited to be back,” he enthused on Instagram at the time. “I can’t wait to see some familiar friends and enemies, and make some new ones along the way.”
