Nathan Owens On His New Y&R Role: ‘He’s A Very Mysterious Guy’

On the Wednesday, January 8 episode of Young and Restless, DAYS alum Nathan Owens (ex-Cameron Davis) will be introduced in a mysterious new role.
Man Of Mystery
As viewers know, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford) have been on the hunt for Damian, Amy’s son by the late Nathan Hastings, Sr. and the half brother Nate didn’t know he had until Amy revealed to him late last year that she had given birth to Nathan’s son. In a new interview with TV Insider, Owens was tight-lipped about the details of the role he’ll be playing, and it was hinted that the reason (or reasons!) why will be revealed as his storyline unfolds. But Owens did say that his new alter ego “plays a very delicate role in this scenario, and he’s a very mysterious guy,” and that he’s been enjoying “diving into the mysterious world my character has.”
Owens also praised the “incredibly warm” reception he received when he reported to work at the Y&R set and noted, “The folks that I got to work with on day one were amazing. Sean Dominic is one of them and he was great.” One person he has yet to run into is Eileen Davidson, who plays Ashley; during his stint on DAYS, Davidson was also in the Salem mix, playing Kristen DiMera, but Owens noted that he hoped that would change soon, saying, “I’m looking forward to seeing her.”
The actor’s time on DAYS was fairly short — he took over the role of Cameron from original portrayer Schuyler Yancy on December 24, 2012 and his final episode aired less than a year later, on November 8, 2013 — and Owens admitted that at the time, he was overwhelmed by the speed of production in the soap opera world. “I was so green,” he told the website. “I didn’t really know how to operate in that space and I kind of drowned a little bit.” But he noted that working on the show taught him key lessons about preparation that he carried into his future acting jobs, including starring opposite Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, All My Children) on Devious Maids, playing fitness instructor Jesse Morgan to her Genevieve Delatour. He did two seasons of the prime-time soap, which Owens credited with boosting his professional profile.
With a lot more experience under his belt, Owens said he felt far better prepared to take on soaps again. “I’ve seen a lot since then, so now I know the preparation that it takes,” the actor asserted.
