Just Say No: Five Times B&B Characters Used Drugs to Get What They Want

Comments

Soap characters should sometimes be more careful about what they eat or drink, because you never know what might be in it — especially on Bold and Beautiful! Luna (Lisa Yamada) purposefully served Will (Crew Morrow) some high-octane liquor so he’d be out of it enough to sleep with her while believing he was bedding his girlfriend, Electra (Laneya Grace), and that’s actually one of the simpler ways a character has tried to affect another’s judgment on the soap. Usually, these kinds of schemes involve drugs of some kind that leave the victim doing things they wouldn’t normally do. Inspired by Luna’s trickery, Soap Opera Digest takes a look back at other incidents where people used chemicals to create a reaction!

Sheila’s “Bottle of Passion”

Back in 1993, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) was engaged to Eric (John McCook), but concerned about the connection he still had with his ex-wife, Stephanie (Susan Flannery). As a nurse, Sheila not only had knowledge of various drugs, but access to them as well, and used one of them to stake her claim on the Forrester patriarch. Sidling up to Eric in his office, Sheila asked him to join her in a glass of wine before he went to Stephanie’s for dinner, then slipped a white powder into his drink. The drug caused Eric to feel extra passionate about Sheila, and while she briefly pretended to resist, the two were soon making love right there in the office. Having spent the evening waiting for Eric in vain, Stephanie confronted her rival the next day, and Sheila happily boasted that Eric found her completely irresistible.

Driven Insane

Sheila went after Stephanie directly in 1996, lacing her calcium pills with mercury that slowly drove her insane. After Stephanie was committed to a mental hospital, Sheila made a point of visiting to gloat, but was interrupted by Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley), who was horrified to see her friend in such a state and gave Stephanie the motivation to get better. Without the regular doses of mercury, Stephanie regained her sanity, and Sheila quickly took steps to frame Maggie Forrester (Barbara Crampton) for trying to kill the matriarch. Unfortunately, Maggie only made things worse for herself when she confronted Sheila with her accusations and accidentally injured her in the process, leading the villain to claim Maggie had tried to kill her, too!

Tea for Three

It was Stephanie’s turn to be the victimizer in 2000 when she became desperate to ensure that Morgan (Sarah Buxton) would not bear Ridge’s (then-Ronn Moss) child. Many years before, she had pressured Morgan into getting an abortion when she became pregnant with Ridge’s baby. And in 2000, when Morgan had tricked Ridge into getting her pregnant again, Stephanie contacted Bill Spencer (Jim Storm), who procured for her some pills that could induce a miscarriage. She plotted to slip the drug into Morgan’s tea while they had a “friendly” chat, but alerted by Bill about the favor he’d done Stephanie, Ridge rushed to stop his mother. Morgan was furious when Ridge told her about the drug and declared Stephanie was the devil. Later, when Morgan actually did miscarry the baby, she dismissed Stephanie’s attempts to offer her condolences.

Lemons and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

When Eric nearly died of a heart attack in 2008, Donna (Jennifer Gareis) feared she’d done in her new husband because he had taken a pill to… enhance their night together. However, when Pam (Alley Mills) held Donna at gunpoint at the Big Bear Cabin and arranged for her to be eaten by a real-life bear, it was revealed that Pam was the true culprit, having stopped taking her bipolar medication. Pam explained that she’d never meant to hurt Eric, and had only drugged her famous lemon bars that she regularly fed to Eric in the hopes that he wouldn’t be able to perform and Donna would dump her new hubby. That would free him up to return to Pam’s sister, Stephanie, the woman Pam believed Eric truly belonged with.

Out of Control

In 2019, Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam (Scott Clifton) were on shaky ground after believing their daughter, Beth, had died at birth. Wanting Hope for himself, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) got some pills from his pal, Vinny, and drugged Liam’s drink at a small party. As Liam’s behavior became more and more gregarious, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was amused, but Hope was growing irritated, much to Thomas’s delight. Ultimately, Hope decided to call it a night, and Thomas happily took her home while Liam went to sleep it off… though not alone! And when Liam confessed to Hope that he’d slept with Steffy, it just pushed her straight towards Thomas, who was eager to pop the question and put a ring on the blonde’s finger.
