HOME & FAMILY’s Cameron Mathison Marks National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day

home and family

Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, ALL MY CHILDREN) and his HOME & FAMILY co-host Debbie Matenopoulos celebrated National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, with Hallmark Channel’s Happy the Dog on the HOME & FAMILY set. Five years ago this month, Happy the Dog was a tiny puppy when he was found walking between moving cars on one of the busiest streets in South LA. A Good Samaritan made certain the tiny Jack Russell/Schnauzer mix made it to the relative safety of a local municipal shelter. Happy the Dog would not be caged for long because Hallmark Channel heard about the puppy’s plight and adopted him into his new forever home with the network in April 2014. In addition to now being the Ambassador of Hallmark’s ADOPTION EVER AFTER initiative to empty the shelters, Happy the Dog is also the star of Hallmark’s original movies and specials, and more importantly, the resident emotional therapy dog for sick children and their families at LA’s Ronald McDonald House. Happy the Dog’s recovery and accomplishments are proof that the simple act of adoption saves lives on both ends of the leash. April 30 is National Adopt A Shelter Pet day. On this day and always, adopt, rescue, and volunteer at your local neighborhood shelter. If Happy the Dog is any indication, you will meet the love of your life. Adopt!
