General Hospital’s New Mystery: Why Does the WSB Want Josslyn to Run JJE?
General Hospital introduced a new mystery in the Monday, August 24 episode when Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) gave Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) a new assignment: take over as CEO of Jasper Jacks Enterprises.
Why Is the WSB Investigating JJE?
Josslyn has been eager for another WSB field assignment, but the young agent was stunned when Jack told her that the agency wants her to stay in Port Charles and run her father’s company. When she demanded an explanation, Jack noted that he had been kept out of the loop on the decision. He theorized that the WSB might want to use her new position as CEO to connect with power players around the world — but thought it was much more likely the bureau was targeting JJE or one of its many subsidiaries, and was using her as their way in.
Josslyn has been resisting the CEO position for weeks, ever since Hudson Parker (Troy Lennon Appel) — the VP of Operations at JJE — arrived in town and informed Josslyn that her father, Jax (Ingo Rademacher), wanted her to run the family business.
Josslyn told Jack that she didn’t understand why the WSB would be interested in JJE, insisting that her father isn’t a criminal. But she accepted her new assignment and later stunned Hudson with the news that she would be taking the CEO position after all.
What’s Really Going On at JJE?
This storyline is only just getting underway, so what’s really going on at JJE and why the WSB is so interested in the company is still a mystery. But with Hudson clearly positioned as a major part of the JJE tale, it appears that viewers are poised to learn much more about this mysterious new businessman with a violent streak.
In addition to his involvement with JJE, Hudson is also part of the storyline involving the mystery of baby Phoebe (Luna and Lucia Creighton), who Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) just adopted after the death of her birth mother, Delilah (Lily Cardone). Ethan (Nathan Dean) had been desperate to keep Phoebe’s true paternity a secret, claiming that the truth could prove very dangerous and that Phoebe needs protection.
So it’s significant that Ethan fled Port Charles when he first caught sight of Hudson there. Hudson swiftly tracked Ethan down in Norway and assaulted him to try to get info about Delilah, and upon returning to Port Charles, he has taken a great interest in little Phoebe.
Whatever the WSB is digging into at JJE, it’s unlikely that Jax is behind it. While the character is not a total Boy Scout, he is not — as Josslyn pointed out — a notorious criminal like the head of SRE Worldwide, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).
But even Jax suddenly handing over the reins of JJE to Josslyn to go sailing around the world alone has struck many fans as suspicious. “Just a theory: Jax didn’t take this sailing trip of his own free will,” @anyas_cafe posted on X (previously Twitter).
On social media, some viewers are even speculating that the unfolding situation might be the handiwork of the other Jacks brother, Jerry (Sebastian Roché), whose shady dealings put him on the WSB’s radar decades ago.
“Jasper Jacks left his billion dollar company to his 23 year old daughter to run,” mused @crimsonrum on X. “I’m not buying it. Is Josslyn’s dad really traveling by boat around the world or is he kidnapped by someone (Maybe even Jerry Jacks)?”
Other fans suspect that Hudson’s mysterious connection to Phoebe might not be as simple as him being her father. “Maybe Jerry [Jacks] is the father?” @rhda8386 proposed on X. Another viewer referenced Ethan swiping DNA from a cold case file in storage at the WSB and noted, “Jerry [Jacks’] DNA could probably be in the PCPD files for Ethan to steal.”
