General Hospital Star Anthony Geary’s Husband Shares Heartfelt Message: ‘He Will Always Be Missed’
The daytime community has been mourning the loss of General Hospital star Anthony Geary since the actor passed away on December 14 at the age of 78. His husband, Claudio Gama, has been keeping Geary’s fans up to date on their life in Amsterdam for years, and on December 22, the widower shared a special message to let everyone know that they had said their final farewells to the eight-time Daytime Emmy-winner. It included a photo of Geary posing by one of the canals, a shot of some sympathy cards and flowers, and, of course, an image of their beloved cat, Max.
Forever Love
“Greetings to all from Amsterdam,” Gama wrote. “Today we said our last good-byes to Tony. He is now resting up where the stars shine bright. He will always be missed. His love, his life, his art speaks for itself. Me, Max, and the family would like to thank all of Tony’s friends and colleagues for the wonderful support and respect you have shown Tony.”
The widower also shared a special message to those loyal viewers who watched Geary on GH for all of those years. “To all of Tony’s fans, thank you so much for the wonderful words of support and condolences,” Gama wrote. “He always told me everything he did as an actor, as an artist, was for his fans. Without your love and support, he would have never reached the heights he did in his career. Acting was his passion as was dancing, singing, drink[ing] cola, PayDay candy bars, and cats. He loved his country and his second home of Amsterdam. Thank you all. Rest in peace, our Tony.”
The following day, Gama shared a short video of a canal in Amsterdam with Oude Kerk Church in the background and let everyone know that he went out to get some fresh air and do some grocery shopping. “Dax, Tony’s nephew, is staying for the holidays,” he reported. “He came all the way from lovely Utah, where Tony’s family lives, and he is keeping me company til the new year. We wish everybody a safe, warm, and healthy Christmas. Love to all.”

When the news of Gama’s passing first broke, he shared with TV Insider, “For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband.” The pair’s romance dated back to 1995, and in February 2019, they were married. In 2015, when Geary left GH as Luke, the iconic role he had played on and off since 1978, he moved full-time to Amsterdam to reside with Gama.
Among those who commented on Gama’s post were Finola Hughes (Anna), a longtime friend of Geary and Gama’s, who wrote, “Love you Claudio ❤️,” and former GH star Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke), who wrote simply, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
