General Hospital Recap: Valentin and Lulu Strike a Deal, Anna Interrogates Jack, Trina’s in Danger
There was a lot to celebrate on General Hospital on Wednesday, July 22, but trouble is just around the corner. Lulu (Alexa Havins) made a decision about Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Michael (Rory Gibson) bonded, Anna (Finola Hughes) tried to pry the truth from Jack (Chris McKenna), Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Portia (Brook Kerr) named their son, and Trina (Tabyana Ali) thought her future was looking bright. Here’s how it all went down.
Decision Time
Lulu was stunned that Dante was suggesting allowing Charlotte to live with Valentin, and he reminded her she couldn’t keep her daughter away from her father forever. Lulu knew she was going to have to share custody with Valentin, but worried about losing Charlotte completely. Dante advised Lulu to stop trying to make up for the years she missed out on with Charlotte and try to move forward, offering to support her no matter what she decided.
In her kitchen, Carly slipped the flash drive containing the evidence about Valentin into a drawer and distracted her beau with talk about Cullum’s black box, which he stole from Wyndemere. Valentin shared his suspicion that not only were Jack and Nina on Spoon Island looking for the secure safe, but that it actually belonged to Jack. He planned to trade the box to Brennan in exchange for unfreezing his assets, but Carly worried Jack would just kill him after getting the box back.
Lulu arrived and informed Valentin that she’d decided that Charlotte should be allowed to choose who she wants to live with, though they both knew who she would pick. She added that Valentin would need to provide an actual home — not Carly’s or a hotel suite.
Valentin assured Lulu he would make sure Charlotte knew how much she loved her, and Lulu expected Carly to tell her if Valentin was putting Charlotte in danger. After Lulu left, Carly eyed the flash drive’s hiding place nervously until Valentin happily swept her up into a kiss.
Two of a Kind
Jordan ran into Michael at the gym, and she asked him about his experience at the clinic in Germany. He admitted it was terrible, but they saved his life. She confided that she was considering getting treatment for her scars there and that Sidwell had offered to get her into the exclusive center, but only in exchange for a favor she wasn’t willing to give. Michael offered to do whatever he could to help and to be a friendly ear if she ever needed to talk. After Jordan left, Michael was surprised to get a call from Maxie.
Sifting Through the Lies
At the PCPD, Jack welcomed Anna back to work and apologized for not seeing through Cullum’s lies sooner and for not realizing her disappearance was suspicious. As they discussed the whole case, Anna theorized that Cassius was the one who shot Cullum on the pier to get his boss out of the way. Jack told her it wasn’t Cassius, but added that the shooter’s real identity was classified.
Anna suspected Cullum made the evidence of his shooting disappear, but Jack said that the evidence had already vanished back when Cullum requested it himself. Anna again suspected Cassius, but Jack urged her to let it go. After Brennan exited, Peter appeared to wonder why she was wasting time and hadn’t asked him about Britt.
What’s in a Name?
Britt was delighted when Stella asked her to handle Portia’s discharge, but wondered if some of the extra work she’d been assigned as part of her probation could be adjusted. Stella reminded her that this wasn’t a punishment but an opportunity for her to prove how much she wanted to be there. Later, Britt congratulated Isaiah on the birth of Portia’s baby, and he opened up to her about the continued tension with Curtis.
Portia was delighted to see Isaiah bonding with her baby boy; however, when Curtis arrived, he was less pleased by the scene. Isaiah returned to work, and the new parents discussed baby names. Learning Portia was going to be discharged, Curtis offered a ride home and suggested he could stay for the baby’s first night home. Wanting to set boundaries, Portia said he was welcome at the house but not overnight.
Britt was grateful Portia requested her to do her discharge exam, and Portia explained she wanted to help, knowing all about getting a second chance at the hospital. Before leaving, Curtis and Portia settled on a name and introduced everyone to Desmond Robinson Ashford.
Obssession
Brook Lynn welcomed Simon to a Deception conference room to discuss signing Trina and Gio, but he revealed that instead of signing them as a duo, the label wanted to sign them as separate solo acts. He left them to talk, and Brook Lynn thought this was even better, but Gio wasn’t interested in being a solo artist. When Simon returned, Brook Lynn informed him her clients wanted to remain a duo.
Later, Brook Lynn returned to the Quartermaine estate with Gio, and they happily informed Dante that Gio and Trina had signed a deal. Gio let his parents know he appreciated their support as he rediscovered his love for music. Still back in the conference room, Simon called someone to let them know he’d signed the duo, but Trina was the one to watch.
Quinn approached Kai at the Surf Lodge and apologized for the way he treated Trina when Kai was injured. He hoped to repair their friendship, and Kai told him he needed to apologize to his girlfriend. Trina arrived to meet Kai and was startled to see Quinn. Before excusing himself, Quinn apologized to Trina for how he’d acted. Trina told Kai she and Gio had signed a deal and he wanted to celebrate.
As he swept her into an embrace, Quinn sat at a nearby table watching them intensely. Then the scene cut to a bulletin board covered in a collage of numerous photographs of Trina as ominous music played.
