General Hospital Recap: Sonny Tries to End Carly & Valentin as Peter Haunts Anna’s Homecoming
Two characters returned to Port Charles on the Wednesday, July 8, episode of General Hospital! Anna (Finola Hughes) tried to settle back in, but she was still haunted by Peter (Wes Ramsey), while Martin (Michael E. Knight) offered his legal expertise to Curtis (Donnell Turner). Elsewhere in town, Sonny (Maurice Benard) tried to convince Carly (Laura Wright) to dump Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Molly (Kristen Vaganos) was faced with a major decision, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) nursed a hungover Lucas (Van Hansis), Ric (Rick Hearst) agreed to represent Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), and more. Keep on reading for all the details.
Home Sweet Home
Felicia brought Anna back to her condo, where she was greeted enthusiastically by Mac, Emma, and Gio. Anna thanked Gio for supporting Emma while she was away, then urged her granddaughter to go hang out at the Metro Court pool when Gio had to leave for work. Anna also asked Mac and Felicia to leave, saying she wanted some alone time.

Soon after, Dante dropped by. He shared that Cassius and Cullum were both dead, and Anna expressed her guilt over having been fooled by Nathan’s impostor twin. She blamed Cassius for her institutionalization, saying he’d convinced her that Faison was alive.
Once Anna was finally alone, she had another vision of Peter. “It’s good to be home isn’t it,” he smirked. “Now you can finally get your revenge.”

Ghosts Of Boyfriends Past
Happily reunited, Carly and Valentin were imagining a relationship where he wasn’t hiding in her attic when they were interrupted by Sonny. Sonny warned Carly that she was making a huge mistake by getting involved with Valentin, and the men traded barbs about each other’s romantic partners. Sonny also tried to sway Carly by telling her that Valentin had helped Ava switch his bipolar meds several years back, which caused his breakdown.
Though disappointed, Carly defended Valentin, explaining that their partnership started because she’d needed his help to get back at Jack for recruiting Josslyn into the WSB (which was news to Sonny). She added that Valentin ended up saving Josslyn’s life by turning himself in to the WSB.

Next, Sonny informed them that Cullum was responsible for the attack against him in Los Angeles as well as the firebomb that nearly killed Michael and proclaimed that Carly would never be safe with Valentin’s list of enemies. Carly stood her ground, and Sonny shook his head and huffed that he hoped it worked out for her before leaving.
Later, Valentin wanted to know if Carly was okay with the history between him and Sonny. She insisted he’d been a different man then and nothing would come between them — unaware that Anna was back in Port Charles….

Legal Briefs
Back in town after winning his big case in Reno, Martin met Laura at the Metro Court Garden. She broke the news that the case had been set up by Jenz Sidwell, who’d wanted Martin out of town while he blackmailed her. Martin wondered if Kevin and Ace would be coming home now that Sidwell was facing trial for attempted murder, but Laura explained that Kevin had already begun the summer semester in Dublin.

Martin wondered if there was anything he could do for his sister since he hadn’t been around to help her during the Sidwell situation. Laura asked if he’d help her friend who was facing a difficult legal situation.
Across the restaurant, Justine offered Molly the Sidwell case, since it was a conflict of interest for her to prosecute the criminal after she’d been one of his hostages. Molly was torn, since she’d have to cancel her book tour if she took the case, and asked for 24 hours to think it over. Molly commented that she was surprised Sonny had rushed to save the A.D.A. from a hostage situation, but by doing so, her uncle had created another conflict of interest for Justine (since Turner wouldn’t be able to prosecute him in the future). Justine assured her that if Sonny ever faced prosecution, she’d hand that case over as well.

Guest Services
Hungover, Lucas woke up on Elizabeth’s couch and was embarrassed to hear that he’d interrupted her and Ric’s romantic evening the night before when he showed up drunk. Ric left after sharing a kiss with Liz. Lucas opened up to Liz about Britt never having Huntington’s — which meant that Marco was murdered over vials of harmless saline. Grateful for Elizabeth’s comfort and support, he promised to return the favor if she ever needed a couch to crash on.

Risk Assessment
After a phone call from his attorney, Curtis and Jordan discussed his lawyer’s advice to take the plea deal of two years in prison. Since it now appeared that Willow was the other driver, not Isaiah, his provocation defense was shaky. Plus, given the severity of Isaiah’s injury, there was a chance Curtis might spend even more time in jail.
Groaning that the evidence against Willow was suspicious, Curtis wondered if Michael, Tracy or Sonny had set Willow up. He and Jordan decided to reach out to Nina and Chase to try to prove that Willow was being framed; then Curtis could still make a compelling case against Isaiah.

Jordan wondered if fighting the case was worth the gamble of potentially missing the first year of his new baby’s life. Ultimately, Curtis decided not to accept the plea deal and to take his chances in court. Shortly after, Martin dropped by their condo, having been sent by Laura to give them a second opinion on the case.
Out of Bounds
While at the pool with Kai, Trina was working on a set list for the showcase when her mom and Isaiah entered. After Portia and Trina made awkward small talk, Portia and Isaiah settled at a table to wait for Ric, and Trina told Kai she was glad that her mom respected her boundaries.
Once Gio and Emma arrived, Emma happily updated her friends that her grandmother was home. Gio questioned why Portia and Isaiah were talking with Ric, which Trina hadn’t noticed. Trina began to spiral that Isaiah was going to escalate things with the lawsuit, but Kai calmed her down and helped her realize she needed to stay out of her mother’s business.

Meanwhile, Isaiah told Ric why he wanted to explore a civil suit against Curtis in addition to the upcoming criminal trial, and Ric agreed to represent him in court.
Secret Lovers
Later, Justine and Sonny met up at the apartment above Charlie’s. When he brought up their kiss at Ava’s gallery, Justine acknowledged that it was risky to kiss him with the police around. Sonny smirked that there were no police around them now, so they kissed again.
