General Hospital Recap: Sonny and Jason Plot, Britt Gets Caught, Carly Surprises Valentin and More

Comments

Plans were shifting and changing in the November 7 episode of General Hospital as people jockeyed for position. Anna’s (Finola Hughes) disappearance left Laura (Genie Francis) in the lurch, Carly (Laura Wright) paid another visit to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Felicia (Kristina Wagner) encountered a mysterious stranger, Lucas (Van Hansis) agreed to move in with Marco (Adrian Anchondo) and was surprised to find Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) with Jenz (Carlo Rota), Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) discussed how to solve their Sidwell problem, and much more! Here’s how it all went down!

The Great Debate

Jack summoned Laura to his office to relay that Anna had called him to let him know the WSB had recalled her for a classified assignment. Laura couldn’t believe she would just walk out on her job as police commissioner, and wanted to speak to Anna personally. Jack said she was unreachable, and Laura went from skeptical to flabbergasted, demanding he tell her the truth. Jack apologized and tried to offer the WSB’s assistance during Anna’s absence, but the mayor wanted none of that. On her way out, Laura reminded Jack that her granddaughter, Charlotte, was not a commodity to be used to get information out of Valentin.

At Bobbie’s, after explaining to Charlotte that they needed a key fob to get into Professor Dalton’s lab, Emma spotted Britt holding her fob as she made a call to say she wouldn’t be going near PCU today because of the mayoral debate. She stepped up to buy Britt a coffee as a peace offering and apologized for how she spoke to her in Dalton’s office, adding that she was looking forward to working with her. But Britt declared they weren’t going to be working together, and she would be going nowhere near that lab. When Britt’s phone rang, she emptied her bag on the table to find it, and as she was talking, Emma tried to grab the keys but couldn’t. As she left, Britt said she appreciated Emma’s apology but warned that the lab was off limits except to authorized personnel.

Lulu sat down with Charlotte to break the news that Jack was considering transferring Valentin to a WSB prison in America. Charlotte knew that the more she could visit her father, the more information Jack could get out of him, but was still happy at the idea of having her dad closer to home. Lulu was worried that the closer she got to Valentin, the more danger she would be in, but Charlotte countered that she’d do the same if Grandpa Luke were alive and in prison. She also pointed out how, when it got too dangerous, her father sent her home to her mother so she’d be safe.

Popping into Bobbie’s, Laura spotted Emma and asked about Anna, learning that she’d left her granddaughter a voicemail about leaving town on WSB business. She then moved on to greet her daughter and granddaughter, but Charlotte excused herself to talk to Emma, so Laura joined Lulu at the table. She expressed her concern that Anna had disappeared just before the mayoral debate and her fear that Ezra Boyle would use that against her. Lulu offered help, but Laura said it was up to her to make sure the voters knew Boyle was a charlatan. Charlotte checked in with Emma, who reported that she wasn’t able to get the key, but insisted that they had to get into the lab tonight, since the mayoral debate would mean no one would be watching the science building. Noting that they still needed the key, Charlotte promised she had it under control.

Moving Day

Lucas was stunned by Marco’s invitation to move in together, but said he wasn’t ready to have that talk while his niece was there. Joss quickly said her goodbyes and, on the way out, promised Lucas she wouldn’t say anything to anyone. Lucas informed Marco that his timing was great because Ava wanted him to move out, and he wasn’t ready to start house-hunting quite yet. Marco suggested that he move in with him at Wyndemere, and Lucas complained that he was a doctor and couldn’t live on an island while on call. Marco suggested that might just be an easy excuse, and declared his love. Lucas was touched and decided to give it a try, sealing the deal with a kiss.

Who’s That Guy?

At the hospital, Felicia was on the phone with Brook Lynn, asking if she could take James home from his riding lesson, when a mysterious bearded man exited the elevator and sat down nearby. After she finished another call with Cody, updating him on the plans, the guy handed Felicia the hospital folder of papers he’d been writing in. Although she casually accepted it at first, when her pencil rolled off the table and he easily caught it and returned it, she looked at the stranger and became immediately suspicious. “Wait,” she called out to him as he headed to the elevator, “what is this?”

Secrets and Lies

Valentin was surprised to receive another visit from Carly, once again disguised as his lawyer, especially when she revealed that Jack was considering transferring him to an American prison. He was impressed that Carly was able to manipulate Brennan so easily, and cautioned her to be extra careful because if he saw through her deceit, she and the people connected to her would be in danger. But she was determined to make Jack pay for putting her daughter in danger and lying to her about it. Valentin asked Carly to note everything Jack said or did, and he would know what was useful — and hopefully, he’d be stateside in a few weeks. “Jack thinks he’s invincible,” he declared. “But he has two weaknesses: his ego, and you. There’s no stopping his ego, and that leaves just you. Together, we’ll bring him to his knees.”

Meanwhile, Josslyn returned to Jack’s office to report that she didn’t get anything out of her uncle because Marco showed up to invite Lucas to move in with him. He thought that was a lucky break, but Joss was concerned that if Sidwell was as dangerous as they thought, she should warn Lucas. Jack reminded her about her job description and threatened to charge her with treason if she said anything to her uncle. He announced that Lucas had now become an asset, and a valuable one, so they had to seize this opportunity. He urged her to convince Lucas to move in with Marco and support it, then called Vaughn to update him on the situation.

An Unexpected Guest

At Wyndemere, Ava wanted to talk about art for the estate, but Sidwell tried to change the subject to Sonny. She gently declined to discuss her daughter’s father (while flashing back to him threatening to kill her), hoping to maintain their fragile peace. Sidwell insisted that he wanted peace with Sonny as well, but Ava countered that after Charlie’s burned down, he lost that chance. “If Sonny Corinthos perceives you as a threat to his children,” she warned, “there will be no peace. There will be no compromise. There will be no place to hide.” Sidwell asked if Ava thought Sonny was responsible for Marco’s disappearance, and she admitted that it seemed likely. Sidwell turned on the charm a little extra as he walked Ava out, and was startled when Britt appeared in a doorway behind him.

Annoyed that Britt had just let herself in, Sidwell impressed upon her the importance of keeping an eye on Dalton. Britt didn’t want to be a spy and urged him to pay Dalton off and be rid of him, but he reminded her that she worked for him and would continue to do so, pointing out her improved health. Just then, Lucas entered with Marco and was stunned to see Britt. Sidwell covered by claiming he’d contacted Britt looking for a concierge doctor, only to find out she’d lost her medical license. Lucas needled that she was just “Miss Westbourne” now and she countered that she was already in the process of getting her license back. Sidwell saw her out, and Marco couldn’t believe she could be treating patients again. “She might be a monstrous person, but she’s a good doctor,” Lucas shrugged. “I mean, she was before she died.” Sidwell rejoined them, trying to make like it was hilarious that Britt tried to pull one over on him, and asked Lucas not to mention this at the hospital. Marco then informed his father that Lucas had agreed to move in, with none of them realizing that Britt was listening in at the window.

When Push Comes to Shove

Jason reported to Sonny that they’d gotten the Rochester ports as a backup plan in case Sidwell got hold of their piers in Port Charles, but suggested the easier solution would be to get rid of Sidwell. Sonny was concerned about what Sidwell was trying to bring into town, and Jason urged him to take the shot before it was too late. Sonny warned that they couldn’t make a direct move against Sidwell because Justine had been watching them like a hawk, and the WSB was likely tracking Jenz.  He was also concerned about Lucas’s threats to go to the police about him after what happened with Marco, as well as Kristina’s involvement. Sonny didn’t think taking out Sidwell would be worth alienating everyone he cares about and insisted they needed more intel about what Sidwell is up to, who he’s working with, and what Marco’s part in it was. “Killing Sidwell has to be our last resort,” he seethed. “Once we’re out of options, then we’ll do it.”
