General Hospital Recap: Maxie and Nathan Come Face to Face, Drew Attempts To Alert Alexis and More

Comments

It was a day worth celebrating on the February 19 episode of General Hospital because Maxie (Kirsten Storms) returned home! After being welcomed back with a party attended by Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), Felicia (Kristina Wagner), Mac (John J. York), Lulu (Alexa Havins), Georgie (Lily Fisher), James (Gary James Fuller), Cody (Josh Kelly), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), and Chase (Josh Swickard), Maxie finally came face to face with her dead husband, Nathan (Ryan Paevey)! Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) gave Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) some moral support when she reunited with Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequioa and Serenity Mork Macko), Drew (Cameron Mathison) frantically tried to communicate with Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and Ric (Rick Hearst) made a shocking revelation when Michael (Rory Gibson) faced Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Justine (Nazneen Contractor) at the PCPD! Get all the details below.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

Confused when forensics found a key to Drew’s house on Michael’s key ring, Dante and Nathan wondered if they’d caught Michael in another lie, and the acting commissioner asked Det. West to handle questioning his brother. Meanwhile, Michael was with Ric and Wiley in the Quartermaine kitchen, preparing to bring the kids to see Willow, when Nathan called and summoned him to the station. As Justine, Nathan, and Dante waited for Michael to arrive, Justine and Dante agreed to observe the interview from outside the interrogation room. Then, when Justine complimented Nathan for thinking to check Michael’s keys, Nathan explained that it had been Chase’s idea. Dante reminded them that possessing a key didn’t mean Michael was the shooter, and Nathan didn’t think he’d get a confession out of Michael anyway, prompting Justine to muse that whatever Michael said during questioning could determine whether or not they charged him with attempted murder.

Back at the Quartermaine mansion, Michael asked Ric to bring the kids to Willow’s house. Once Wiley left the kitchen, Michael shared that the PCPD had been there earlier that morning with a warrant for his keys. Michael stressed that he never had a key to Drew’s house, and Ric wondered why the police were then bringing him in for questioning. After Michael left for the police station, Wiley asked Ric if his dad was in trouble, and Ric tried to reassure his great-nephew that the police just wanted to return Michael’s keys. But Ric was alarmed when Wiley innocently responded, “The keys Uncle Chase took?”

Sending Out An S.O.S.

At his place, as Drew stared at Willow with a panicked look in his eyes, she raved about how she was finally about to spend time with Wiley and Amelia, despite all the obstacles that had been in her way — including him. Willow then greeted Alexis, who arrived to supervise the kids’ drop-off but bristled when an excited Willow hugged her, thanking the attorney for all her help. When Willow added that she was glad Alexis and Ric would be there to distract the kids from any tension between her and Michael, Alexis shared how her contentious relationship with Ric had been quite difficult for Molly and urged Willow to put aside any acrimony with her ex for the sake of the children. Then, Alexis asked to see Drew, wanting to assess if his current situation might be too upsetting for Scout to visit her father. Bringing her into the bedroom, Willow explained that blinking was Drew’s only method of communication and offered to do whatever Alexis thought was best to make a visit more comfortable for Scout.

Willow exited the bedroom after receiving a text from Elizabeth, who was there to drop off cupcakes that Aiden had baked for Wiley and Amelia. Willow relayed her worries that her kids might feel distant, but Elizabeth assured her friend that even if things were awkward at first, they’d bond again in no time. Ric then showed up to drop off the kids, and Willow shared a teary reunion with her son and daughter. Once settled inside, the kids snacked on the cupcakes, and Willow asked Liz to stick around for moral support. Wiley wanted to save one of the treats for Michael, innocently sharing that his father hadn’t joined them because he had to go to the police station since the police had his keys. At that, Willow flashed back to the day she put Drew’s house key on Michael’s key ring and claimed to Elizabeth that she had no idea why the police might be questioning him about that.

Meanwhile, Drew blinked furiously as Alexis gave him an update on how Scout was doing, trying to get her attention and communicate a message to her. Finally, Alexis realized that Drew was trying to tell her something, but she couldn’t decipher what his three blinks in a row meant. Feeling that she was agitating him, Alexis said good-bye with a promise to bring Scout to visit him soon. She returned to the living room as Willow was giving Wiley and Amelia their belated Christmas presents. Pulling Willow aside to chat, Alexis stated that she’d told Drew about Scout, but he seemed very agitated, and Willow grew concerned when Alexis mused that it had seemed like Drew was trying to tell her something.

After Alexis left, Willow and Elizabeth marveled over how happy Wiley and Amelia were, leading Willow to declare that everything she’d done to reach this point had been worth it. Then, she asked Liz to keep an eye on the kids while she checked on Drew. Entering the bedroom, Willow blasted Drew for trying to tell Alexis what she was up to and injected him with more drugs.

The Missing Key

Once Michael arrived at the PCPD, he told Nathan he wanted to reschedule since Diane was stuck in court. When Michael refused to answer questions without counsel, Nathan reminded him that they could hold him until his attorney got there. Nathan then gave him privacy when Michael received a phone call; it was Ric, who was calling to give Michael a heads-up about what Wiley had said. Hearing that Diane wasn’t available, Ric agreed to head to the station as Michael’s attorney instead, promising to fill him in once he got there. Before they hung up, Ric confirmed Michael’s suspicion that he was walking into a trap, adding that if they played it right, the PCPD would suffer the consequences.

While waiting for Ric to arrive, Michael suggested to Nathan that they put off his questioning so the detective could go to Maxie’s homecoming party. Nathan shot back that Michael could make it easy and answer his questions right then and there, but Michael smiled that as much as he loved Maxie, he wasn’t about to potentially implicate himself by speaking without his attorney present. Out in the bullpen, Justine told Dante that it was odd that Michael would incriminate himself by leaving a key on his key ring, especially after they questioned him about that exact thing. Dante shared that he and Nathan agreed Michael wouldn’t be that sloppy, and Justine then wondered if Michael had tripped up by his own arrogance.

Ric then stormed into the precinct, having dropped off Wiley and Amelia at Willow’s house, and barged into the interrogation room. Finally able to begin questioning the suspect, Nathan asked Michael if he stood by the previous statement that he did not have a key to Drew’s house. Instructing his client not to answer the question, Ric demanded that Nathan tell them why Michael had been brought in. When Nathan informed them that a key to Drew’s house had been found on Michael’s keychain, Michael insisted that there had to be a mistake because he’d never had a key to Drew’s home. Nathan argued that the key was in Michael’s possession, and Ric snapped that he wasn’t about to get into a legal debate with Det. West. He then yelled out for Justine, who was watching through the window. Entering the interrogation room so she could take over the questioning, Justine dismissed Nathan, and Dante then told him to go to Maxie’s party.

Dante sat down at the table just as Justine informed Ric that the PCPD had enough to charge Michael. Laughing that they had nothing, Ric stated they may proven that a key to Drew’s house was on Michael’s key ring, but they didn’t prove Michael put it there himself, much less used it to enter the night of the shooting. Since they had no chain of evidence, just pure speculation, Ric insisted they let Michael leave. Not giving in, Justine asked who would have put the key on Michael’s keychain then, and Ric shocked her and Dante with the news that an eyewitness had seen Det. Chase handling Michael’s keys.

Home Sweet Home

Felicia brought Maxie home, where Mac, Georgie, James, Spinelli, Brook Lynn, Chase, and Bailey Lou were waiting for her, and things got a bit awkward when James excitedly said that he couldn’t wait for his mom to see his dad. As the party continued, Maxie thanked Chase and Brook Lynn for helping to take care of Bailey Lou, and an emotional Brook Lynn that she was glad there was something they were able to do to help because she’d felt so helpless while Maxie recovered. With a promise that she wasn’t leaving them again, Maxie hugged her friend. Later, Cody filled Maxie in on James’s progression with his riding lessons, and she thanked her stepbrother for all the times he’d been there for James while she was gone.

The party moved into the den, where the kids were setting up a surprise for their mom, which left Maxie alone in the living room when Lulu arrived. After giving her bestie a hard time about being late, Maxie revealed that her homecoming had been overwhelming. Having been there herself, Lulu shared that it was disorienting to wake up in a hospital bed to discover that everyone else had gone on with their lives and promised to help Maxie readjust to “the land of the living” as Maxie had done for her. Then, just as Maxie praised Lulu for being such a good friend, Brook Lynn entered the living room and told Maxie that the kids were ready for her in the den.

Once they were alone, Lulu accused Brook Lynn of judging her for having feelings for Nathan, but Brook Lynn replied that she didn’t think Lulu should tell Maxie anything unless those feelings had been acted on. Hearing that they’d just kissed one time, Brook Lynn stated that, as long as it ended now, she didn’t think Lulu should tell Maxie anything, since it would only hurt her, and their friend could use all the support she could get. By herself later in the kitchen, Lulu tried to cover her disappointment as she recalled her near-kiss with Nathan and his confession that he wanted to be with her. Georgie and James had put together a slideshow of all the events Maxie missed while she was gone, and James was disappointed when Felicia informed him that Nathan was stuck at work and wasn’t going to make it to the party. Cody shared with Mac that Molly hadn’t joined him because they were on the outs, and Mac offered to be a sounding board if his son ever wanted to talk.

Ghosts Of The Past

As the party continued, Maxie complimented Spinelli for keeping their family together while she was gone. He addressed the complicated situation between them now that Nathan was back from the dead. Informing her that he knew things might not go back to the way they were, he urged Maxie to take her time coming to a decision. Needing to get some air, Maxie headed out for a walk. Spinelli assured James and Georgie that their mom had just needed some alone time to process her big feelings and would come back after her walk. Then, as the kids helped Lulu clean up, an emotional Spinelli heaved a heavy sigh, worry etched across his face.

After leaving the party, Chase and Brook Lynn went back to the Quartermaine estate, where Chase shared his disappointment that they won’t be needed much for babysitting duties now that Maxie was back. Rushing to reassure his wife that he wasn’t trying to pressure her into anything, Chase was surprised when Brook Lynn declared that she was ready to start a family. The couple called Alexis over and told her that they were ready to resume their search for a child to adopt.

At the cemetery, a pensive Nathan brushed snow off of his own headstone and pondered it. Just then, Maxie arrived. She froze at the sight of her not-so-deceased husband, then gasped out his name. Nathan rose to his feet and replied, “Maxie!”
