General Hospital Recap: Drew Learns The Truth, Willow Pleads With Michael and More!

Comments

As the dust continued to settle in the July 30 episode of General Hospital, after Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) explosive non-wedding, there were still other secrets yet to be revealed that will only make things worse. Curtis (Donnell Turner) assured Portia (Brook Kerr) that they were okay, not realizing a slip of the tongue was going to prove him wrong. After speaking with Rocco (Finn Carr), Laura (Genie Francis) tried to get Lulu (Alexa Havins) to see things from her son’s point of view. Plus, Michael (Rory Gibson) came to a shocking realization about Drew as Nina (Cynthia Watros) attempted to help Willow… whether she liked it or not. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Rocco surprised Laura with a visit to ask his grandmother for help dealing with his parents — they were freaking out because he’d reached out to Obrecht, who came to Port Charles to discuss Britt with him. Laura tried to get him to understand where Dante and Lulu were coming from, given the terrible things Britt and Obrecht have done in the past, while allowing that people can change, and perhaps Obrecht had grown. Rocco insisted that the woman he spoke to was nothing like what he’d read about and had shared memories of when he was an infant. “It was cool to hear stories about myself that my parents couldn’t tell me,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “That they didn’t even know. There’s gotta be other stuff that Liesl could tell me about, too.” Laura suggested that if he could explain it like that to his parents, they might understand.

At the Metro Court pool, Maxie warned Brook Lynn that the whole Britt situation wasn’t going away anytime soon since Obrecht was back in town. Lulu popped up to put the blame for that squarely at Brook Lynn’s feet, complaining that she had brought Brook Lynn her son, Gio, and in response, Brook Lynn had invited liars and criminals into her son’s life. Brook Lynn tried to argue that, given that Lulu was indisposed in her coma, Dante should have told Rocco the truth about his birth. Maxie had to step in to keep the argument from escalating any further. As Maxie tried to get Lulu to see things from Brook Lynn’s point of view, Laura called her daughter, and Lulu was grateful for the excuse to leave.

Lulu went to her mother’s office, where Laura explained that she’d spoken with Rocco and warned that trying to prevent him from seeing Obrecht would only make him want to shut his parents out and do it anyway. She noted that Lulu had an opportunity to grow even closer to Rocco by helping him and supporting his search for answers. Meanwhile, Rocco approached Brook Lynn at the pool and thanked her for letting him know that he had another mother that his parents were clearly never going to tell him about.

No Going Back

Curtis asked to see Trina in his office so he could fill her in on everything that went down at the wedding, and she was stunned to learn about Nina and Drew’s affair. He hoped that the truth coming out would make Kai realize the mistake he’d made choosing Drew over Trina, but she insisted it wouldn’t make any difference. Curtis urged his daughter not to throw away her relationship, but she angrily declared that Kai had betrayed her and her family, and the damage was done. As he argued that second chances were important to consider before giving up on someone completely, it was clear that Curtis was thinking about himself as well.

Josslyn approached Kai at the pool to see if he regretted siding with Drew, but Kai took the blame for ruining things with Trina. Joss couldn’t understand how he could defend Drew, but Kai insisted he had to stand by his own principles. When Trina arrived, Kai admitted he didn’t regret telling Drew about what Portia and Curtis had done, but did regret not telling her first. Trina claimed that it wouldn’t have changed anything. “You did something I can’t get past,” she declared bitterly. “And I can get over a lot of things, but betraying my parents isn’t one of them.” Kai guessed that nothing had changed between them, then, and Trina flatly agreed before storming off. Later, Kai looked on wistfully as Trina and Josslyn hung out nearby.

On Her Own Two Feet

A good night’s sleep had done a world of good for Willow, who assured Liz that she was now seeing things more clearly and realized going to Carly’s last night while in a hysterical state was a big mistake. “And so was my entire relationship with Drew,” she added sadly. As a mother, Willow was finding it hard to understand how Nina could hurt her like this, and Liz played devil’s advocate to suggest that perhaps Nina was trying to help get her away from Drew in her own way. Willow noted that Nina claimed she was going to tell her the truth and that thankfully, Curtis had spilled the beans before Willow became Drew’s wife. “I can’t believe how much of my life I let him control and shape,” she marveled of the man she nearly married. “It’s just like Shiloh and Harmony all over again.”

Nina met with Ric to ask him to help Willow fight for custody of her kids. She didn’t want Ric to mention that she’d hired him because Willow would refuse her mother’s help. Ric pointed out that keeping things from Willow hadn’t really worked out for her, so Nina agreed to float the idea past her daughter. She brought some of Willow’s clothes over to Liz’s and took it on the chin as her daughter continued to lash out at her. “I have had you and Drew in my ear for far too long, and I am done with it,” Willow spat. “What happens next is mine to decide. My life. My kids. My future. It’s all up to me now.” Nina again tried to apologize, but Willow didn’t care because if Nina had told her the truth sooner, none of this would have happened. She strode over to the door and held it open so that her mother could exit, which she did, with her head hanging low. Outside, Nina texted Ric to say that talking to Willow didn’t go well, but that he was still hired.

Ric arrived and consulted with Willow as Liz looked on. Willow was thrilled that Ric would still help her get her kids back, and for free. However, she was disappointed when the attorney reported that custody wasn’t an option right now, and the best she could hope for was visitation. Willow lamented having to wait until October for the hearing, but Ric pointed out that if it were held now, Michael would definitely win, so she needed to use these months to prepare.

Drew thanked Michael for not having the Quartermaine security throw him out again and for agreeing to speak with him. He announced that everything between him and Willow was completely over and urged Michael to let her see the kids again. Michael reminded his uncle of the judge’s orders prohibiting Willow from seeing Wiley and Amelia — and after Willow’s behavior the previous night, which scared the children, he wasn’t about to try and go against it. As Drew continued arguing on Willow’s behalf, Michael called him out for his lies and manipulations, soon coming to the realization that Drew was the one who prevented Willow from seeing him at the burn clinic in Germany. Drew tried to deflect and focus on the future Willow could have with her kids. “And she might have had one had you not blocked that conversation!” Michael shouted. “Had we just seen each other that day, we could have reached a compromise. We could have spared our kids from all of this! None of this had to happen. How’s it feel to have that truth sitting on your chest?” Changing his approach again, Drew asked Michael to think of the kids growing up without their mother. “Do the right thing, Michael,” he urged. “Do it for your kids.”

As Maxie caught up with Nina, she couldn’t believe she missed all the wedding drama and wondered why Nina had finally came clean. Nina explained that she had to stop Willow from marrying Drew because her daughter had become unrecognizable under his influence. She also alluded to suspecting Willow of doing something terrible. “If she did it, and if it came out,” Nina fretted, “Willow would never be able to see Wiley and Amelia again.”

Opposite this, Willow went to the Quartermaines to apologize to Michael for her behavior the previous night. “I feel like I’m coming up for air after a year of being underwater,” she confessed. Insisting that her mind was clear now, Willow confirmed that she and Drew were completely through as he’d wanted. “I’ve met the one condition you gave me,” she added. “Maybe not the way you wanted me to, but I have. So please, Michael… can I see Wiley and Amelia?”

After informing Isaiah that she was still planning on resigning from the hospital, Portia went to tell Curtis the same thing. He wanted to wait and see if Drew packed up and moved to D.C. with Scout, but she was tired of living with this hanging over her head. “As long as Drew never finds out I’m the one who told Willow,” Curtis informed his wife, “we’re in the clear.” Meanwhile, Drew went over to Liz’s, where the nurse urged him to give Willow some space. Drew lamented how Willow found out the truth on their wedding day and noticed immediately when Liz suggested “he” was just looking out for Willow. Turning to face her, Drew played along as he pretended to agree. “I… I just wish… Curtis hadn’t done that,” he said carefully as Liz’s resigned half-smile reaction confirmed his suspicion.
