General Hospital Recap: Cullum Kidnaps Obrecht as Brook Lynn Plots Against Willow
On the Friday, June 5, episode of General Hospital, several characters received good news, while another was attacked! Lucas (Van Hansis) was successful in his mission but told Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura (Genie Francis) that he wanted to take things further with bringing down Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Nina (Cynthia Watros) jumped to her daughter’s defense as Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) continued to ingratiate herself with Chase (Josh Swickard), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) found an ally in pro homewrecker Lucy (Lynn Herring), Ethan (Nathan Dean) had to ask Ava (Maura West) for a favor, and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) kidnapped Liesl (Kathleen Gati)! Here’s everything that happened.
Photo Finish
After Lucas successfully stole the photos and negatives implicating Laura and Sonny in Dalton’s death from Sidwell’s safe, he delivered the evidence to Sonny and Laura at the Corinthos Coffee warehouse. Sonny and Laura were happy to have the leverage Sidwell was holding over them, but Lucas warned that they weren’t exactly “free” because Jenz could still hurt people they cared about. Sonny wanted to kill Sidwell, but Laura insisted she use her resources to bring their foe down through law enforcement. Lucas argued that the best way to bring down Sidwell was to catch him in the act of trying to kill someone else — and mused that the safe was the key.
After Lucas left, Sonny confided to Laura that he was surprised by Lucas’s help, considering the bad blood between them, but the mayor noted that Lucas’s love for Marco trumped everything else. Both Sonny and Laura hoped that the mess with Sidwell would soon be over, but worried that he might put together the pieces and blackmail them again. As she and Sonny burned the photographs and negatives, Laura declared that she knew what her next step had to be with Sidwell, and she couldn’t wait to do it.

Watch Your Back
Nina and Willow were giving Drew physical therapy when Liesl stormed in and accused her nieces of helping Britt escape. Liesl also noticed Drew’s incessant blinking of SOS through Morse code and warned Willow and Nina that his desperate attempts to communicate — plus the convenient timing of his “affliction” — could pose a danger for them and whatever scheme they have cooked up if they weren’t more careful. While Willow was in the other room, Nina assured her aunt that Britt would reach out when she could, but Liesl was terrified about what might happen to Britt while she was on the run, especially since she’d likely soon be crippled by her Huntington’s disease.
After Willow left to meet Chase and Brook Lynn, Liesl expressed her concern to Nina that Willow was too involved in her ex-husband’s life. That sentiment was confirmed when Nina shared the news that Willow had offered Chase a job as her chief of staff. Nina defended her daughter, but Liesl called Willow a viper and warned that she could turn on Nina, too. Nina then confided that her primary concern was that Willow was setting herself up for heartbreak, and Liesl declared that if Willow wanted Chase — which she clearly did — then she’d get him.

Case Closed
Brook Lynn and Chase met with Alexis at Miller & Davis, where the attorney informed them that she’d tracked down Phoebe’s father: He’d agreed to let them adopt Phoebe but wanted a closed adoption with the records sealed, so they would never know who he was. Drawing upon her own experience with Gio, which was also supposed to be a closed adoption, Brook Lynn wondered if never knowing her father was the best thing for Phoebe, but she and Chase ultimately agreed to abide by the mystery man’s wishes.
Next, Chase received a call from Willow that the paperwork she’d had expedited with the director of social services came through. Hanging up, Chase excitedly reported that Willow was meeting them so they could file the paperwork with the official adoption petition, and Brook Lynn deadpanned that Willow was always “right there” when she was needed. Wanting to avoid Willow, Brook Lynn sent an urgent text to Lucy asking her to meet up, then made up an excuse about a crisis at Deception so she could leave.

When Willow arrived with the paperwork, Chase updated her on the closed adoption, and she excitedly hugged him. To Alexis’s chagrin, Willow effused that she wasn’t surprised Alexis was able to pull off a miracle, since the lawyer had done the same thing by getting Willow exonerated. Alexis rolled her eyes as Willow further gushed that she owed her freedom to them both: Alexis for her brilliant legal defense and Chase for risking his job to fight for her.
Meanwhile, Brook Lynn met Lucy and asked for advice on how to stop Willow, who was moving in on an oblivious Chase. Calling herself a master in the world of adultery, Lucy was all in on coaching Brook Lynn on how to save her marriage and outmaneuver Willow.
Expert Opinion
Ethan tracked down Ava at the Metro Court Garden and asked her to keep his secret about being Phoebe’s father. He claimed that he didn’t want his relationship with the Quartermaines — specifically, Tracy — complicated by his connection to Phoebe. Ava didn’t believe him, however, and was convinced that Ethan was scheming to get a payoff from Brook Lynn and her wealthy family. Ethan swore that it was nothing more than an opportunity to ensure that his daughter grew up with parents he knew and who loved her. Ava agreed to keep quiet but warned him that her silence wasn’t going to come cheap.

Next Best Thing
At Wyndemere, Cullum demanded an update on Britt’s location from Sidwell, only for his partner to snap that he was preoccupied with Pascal’s disappearance and making him pay for killing Marco. Cullum insisted that they needed to find Britt, but Sidwell snarled that if bringing Marco’s killer to justice wasn’t a priority for Cullum, then why should protecting Cullum be a priority for him? The men agreed that finishing their groundbreaking project was important to them both, and that they needed a scientist with a great mind to finish Britt’s work.
Later, Lucas returned to the house and went into Sidwell’s safe again. He’d just closed it up when Sidwell entered the study and asked if he needed help with something. Meanwhile, Obrecht headed back to her car after searching Britt’s office at G.H. for clues about where her daughter may have gone. But when she got into her vehicle, Cullum was waiting in the backseat and attacked her, covering Liesl’s mouth with his gloved hand!
