General Hospital Recap: Charlotte Says Farewell as Sonny Becomes Suspect in Pentonville Attack
The Monday, September 28, episode of General Hospital was full of suspense and heartfelt moments as Curtis (Donnell Turner) blamed Sonny (Maurice Benard) for the brutal attack at Pentonville, Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) said an emotional goodbye to Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), Sidwell (Carlo Rota) clung to life, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) opened up to Anna (Finola Hughes), Lucas (Van Hansis) grilled Carly (Laura Wright) about her love life and much more. School Ties
Charlotte flipped out about being sent to boarding school in Maine. She tried to play Lulu and Valentin against each other to get them to change their minds, but they held firm.
Valentin left to give mother and daughter time to speak alone, and Lulu finally got Charlotte to realize the dangerous situation she’d put herself in and the serious repercussions claiming Drew had sexually assaulted her could have had. As Lulu and Charlotte shared a teary goodbye, and the teen requested to visit Danny before leaving town.
Blame Game
After they made love, Justine told Sonny she was worried that his family would figure things out, especially Dante, but Sonny thought they were in the clear. She made him promise they’d walk away if either of them felt they were at risk.
Dante arrived at G.H. to check on two men who’d been transported from Pentonville and was shocked to learn from Elizabeth that the injured prisoners were Curtis and Sidwell. When Dante asked Sidwell who was responsible for his attack, Sidwell spat, “Who do you think?” before going into duress.
Dante called Joe to the hospital and assigned him to run the investigation, citing his potential conflict of interest. Dante then summoned Justine and briefed her. She tried to question Sidwell, but Tristan sent her packing until Sidwell was stabilized. However, Justine never got the chance to question him because Sidwell went into cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, Isaiah gave Curtis an out to be seen by another doctor, but Curtis allowed Dr. Gannon to treat him, insisting that he didn’t want to let anyone in the family know about his assault.
Dante shared his suspicion with Liz that Sonny was responsible for the attacks, fearing that his father still wanted revenge against Sidwell. Joe and Justine questioned Curtis about the assault, and he reported that the ringleader had said Sonny was behind the beatings.
Great Expectations
At the Metro Court Gardens, Anna informed Tristan that she no longer needed him to supervise her recovery because Chief Baines decided she could receive civilian treatment. Tristan offered his support should Anna ever need it, and she replied with a smile that he reminded her of someone else, who now lived on the other side of the world (aka Robert).
Gio and Emma arrived at the restaurant for a romantic date, and she was thrown to see Anna at a table with a man she didn’t know. Gio distracted Emma with the news that he and Trina decided to continue their music career without Brook Lynn as their manager. Eventually, Anna approached the couple and jokingly accused her granddaughter of spying on her. But when Emma questioned who the mystery man was, Anna didn’t divulge Tristan’s identity.
Later, Emma and Gio called Sonny to meet them. Gio asked his grandfather if he had any connections for a new music manager since he and Trina were no longer working with Brook Lynn. Sonny agreed to help if they kept his involvement on the down low. He didn’t want any public credit as long as the people important to him knew what he stood for, Sonny told Gio.
Rock Bottom
Anna bumped into Valentin, who’d gone to the Metro Court looking for Carly. She offered support as he opened up about his failings as a father. An emotional Valentin confided that he’d ignored Lulu’s warnings that their daughter was in trouble, and Anna assured him that boarding school would provide the structure Charlotte needed and praised him for acknowledging the essential role Lulu played in their daughter’s life.
“We may have taken different paths to rock bottom,” Anna smiled, “but as someone who currently resides there, this is what we do to make our way back up.”
Matters of the Heart
Carly met Joe when she dropped by Lucas’s new apartment. Over wine, the siblings discussed the situation with Charlotte and Drew (and Carly’s fear that Lulu might blame Valentin for Charlotte’s actions and use that against him), leading to a conversation about Carly’s growing feelings for Valentin, and the surprising romance that developed while they were trying to take down Jack. When Carly said she wasn’t sure what she wanted out of the relationship, Lucas asked his sister point-blank if she was in love with Valentin.
Catch Ya Later
At the boathouse, Rocco told Danny that Charlotte was in major trouble with her parents, and that Lulu, Dante, Scout and Carly all knew who knew what Charlotte had planned to do to Drew. Rocco did not reveal that he’d been the one to expose Charlotte’s scheme to Carly. Danny and Rocco both hoped Scout wouldn’t tell Drew, which would make things worse for all of them. After months of tension, the brothers reached a sort of truce as Danny stated he was glad he’d been able to rely on Rocco to rescue Charlotte.
When Rocco returned home, Lulu told him that Charlotte was going to boarding school. He apologized for not telling his mother about the Drew scheme. Lulu appreciated that he’d protected his sister, but stressed the importance of them trusting one another.
Later, Charlotte found Danny at the dock and told him that her parents were sending her away because Rocco had told Carly what she’d been planning. An outraged Danny wondered why Rocco would have done that, and Charlotte fumed that it was to impress Scout.
The two shared an emotional goodbye, with Charlotte promising that she’d be back, and Danny vowing to be there once she did.
