General Hospital Alum William Lipton’s New Prime Video Series Gets Premiere Date
At last, The Runarounds, the Prime Video series starring General Hospital alum William Lipton (ex-Cameron) and his real-life bandmates, has been given a premiere date by the streaming service: All eight episodes will drop on Monday, September 1. “It’s a dream come true,” Lipton told TV Insider of the series. “Since I was a very, very young kid growing up doing acting and music, my biggest dream role was something that involved heavy music and heavy acting. I already got to experience some on General Hospital, but this show is all about the making of a band, and it’s been the best.”
Life Imitating Art
Developed by Outer Banks creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, the young adult drama series follows a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, NC, who form a rock band. Over the course of a summer, the teens chase their near-impossible dream of stardom — falling in love and trouble along the way.

While The Runarounds series is fictional, it is inspired by Lipton’s real-life band of the same name, with his bandmates Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher joining him for the show. As a band, The Runarounds formed in 2021 when Jonas Pate issued a casting call for a group to appear on a Season 3 episode of Outer Banks. The five members were selected from more than 5,000 musicians who responded to the casting call, and after their Outer Banks appearance, Pate put the group front and center in his new project. Since then, the musical act has also recorded an EP and gone on tour. They also backed up Lipton on GH when Cameron performed at Trina’s birthday party at The Savoy in September 2022.
Lilah Pate, Brooklyn Decker, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Shea Pritchard, Hayes MacArthur, Mark Wystrach, and Marley Aliah round out the cast of the series, which was also filmed in Wilmington.
The trailer for the series also debuts one of the band’s original songs, “Funny How The Universe Works.” That tune, along with another called “Senior Year,” is already available on Spotify, Amazon Music, and other streaming services. The original soundtrack from The Runarounds is scheduled to drop on Sept. 1 in conjunction with the show’s premiere.
Lipton played the role of Elizabeth’s son on GH from 2018 to 2023. Cameron was written out to attend college at Stanford University in California so Lipton could focus on his own college studies and musical projects. The actor returned to the soap in December 2024 for a brief visit with his mom around the holidays.
Sharing the official trailer for The Runarounds on Instagram, Lipton cheered, “So beyond excited to share this one!!!! Watch The Runarounds on Prime Video out September 1st.”
