General Hospital Alum William Lipton Shares Future Plans After Series Cancellation
The Runarounds, the Amazon TV series starring General Hospital alum William Lipton (ex-Cameron) has been cancelled — but The Runarounds, the real-life band fronted by Lipton, will continue. Created by Jonas Pate, the show was a fictional teen drama that starred Lipton and bandmates Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher as high school grads who form a band in the pursuit of stardom. All six episodes of season one premiered on Amazon Prime Video on September 1, 2025.
All Good Things…
“No season two,” Lipton posted to Instagram after the cancellation was made official. “It’s a bummer, but just wanted to express my deepest love and gratitude for everything and everyone involved with this project. It’s been an insane almost six years and my life has been forever changed for the better. Big thank you to everyone who watched and supported. We’ll catch you futhermuckers on the road. Got plenty more shows and more coming if you all want. Keep dreaming no small dream and write love songs that change the world.”
In the comments, Robert Adamson (ex-Noah, Young and Restless; ex-Michael, GH) expressed his sympathies. “I’m sorry, man!” he said. “Was an absolute pleasure taking my daughter to your show in SD! We were really rooting for you! You are all super stars!” Robert Palmer Watkins (ex-Dillon, GH) agreed, adding, “Kind words, brother. He’s right. Only the beginning, William. Keep shining.”
Lipton joined the cast of GH back in August 2018 as Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) firstborn son, whose love affair with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) came to and end when she strayed with Dex (Evan Hofer). The actor earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor/Performer before his exit in March 2023. In 2020, the musician also received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Original Song for his composition, “North Star,” which he performed on the soap at the 2019 Nurses’ Ball. Though he left in 2023, Lipton returned for a brief appearance in February 2024 for the episode featuring Spencer’s (Nicholas Chavez) funeral and another in December when Cameron visited his family just before Christmas.
The Runarounds band was formed back in 2021 when Lipton and his future bandmates answered a casting call and performed together on the Netflix series Outer Banks. That show was co-created by Pate, who later developed The Runarounds as a series to showcase the band. Following that appearance, the group has continued to perform live all over the country, and though the Amazon series may not be coming back for a second season, they still have tour dates scheduled through the end of June.
“We won’t be stopping the band anytime soon,” they assured fans on The Runarounds‘s official Instagram account, “and if you liked the show and want to see more, grab a ticket, we’re coming to your city! We are working on our debut album and we can’t wait to share new music and make new memories with you.”
