Francisco San Martin, DAYS and B&B Alum, Dead at 39

On January 16, Francisco San Martin, known as Pepe to his friends, was found dead in his home at the age of 39. The actor died by suicide, the L.A. County Coroner’s Office confirmed in its official report on San Martin’s passing.
The actor created the role of Dario Hernandez on Days of our Lives back in 2010, which he played for six months. In 2017, he was cast in the short-term role of Mateo on Bold and Beautiful, where his character, who worked at the Forrester estate, was tapped by Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) to try to seduce Quinn (Rena Sofer), who was then married to Eric (John McCook).
Looking Back
The actor was born in Mallorca, Spain on August 27, 1985 but grew up in Montana, where he acted in local children’s theater productions. He returned to Spain as a teenager and began working as a model. He continued to pursue acting, eventually returning to the U.S.
On DAYS, San Martin’s Dario was the brother of Gabi and Rafe Hernandez. Camila Banus, who played Gabi, wrote a tribute to her co-star on her Instagram Stories. “Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend…. Love you mucho mucho mucho. I wish I had told you more.”
In addition to his soap credits, San Martin played Backstage Flirt in the 2013 film Behind the Candelabra, which starred Michael Douglas as Liberace. In 2017, he had a recurring role as Fabian Regalo del Cielo on Seasons 3 and 4 of Jane the Virgin. His character was an actor on the telenovela Los Viajes de Guillermo and was involved with Jane, played by Gina Rodriguez (ex-Beverly, B&B), for a short time. Additionally, he was in a couple of shorts, A Love Story in which he played The Husband, Hotter Up Close, in which he played Aiden, and Dot in 2022, in which he played Niam. That short was his final credit.
