Exclusive First Look: GH’s Josslyn With Her WSB Handler, Bryce Durfee’s Vaughn

Soap Opera Digest exclusively broke the news earlier this week that a new man is entering Josslyn Jacks’s orbit. Thanks to her recent decision to accept Jack Brennan’s offer to join the ranks of the WSB, she’ll have a new trainer/handler guiding her through her path to becoming an agent: Vaughn, played by Bryce Durfee.
Getting To Know You
Durfee tells Digest that after coming in to GH to read for several different characters over the years, he didn’t have high hopes when he was first invited to audition for Vaughn. “After testing [for the role of Chase, which went to Josh Swickard] and multiple roles after that, I was just like, ‘Okay, maybe it’s not a fit for me,’ ” he admits. “I was like, ‘We keep trying and it doesn’t seem to be working.’ ” So, when he got the good news that the role was his, “I was ecstatic!” Durfee grins. “I was surprised by it, but very excited.”
His first day, all of his scenes were opposite Eden McCoy (Josslyn). “She was very warm and welcoming,” the daytime newcomer reports. “For years, I’ve been coming to sets and being a guest star and there are some leads who maybe aren’t as warm and welcoming, so I appreciated that. She was so fantastic — very helpful, very informative. I would say we had instant chemistry. We just have a really easy dialogue between us.”
Things get physical — and not in the romantic sense — between Vaughn and Joss during Durfee’s debut episode. “On my first day, we have a fight scene,” the actor shares. “That made it extremely exciting. Eden and I had a really fun time trying to figure that out, and since then, we’ve had a couple more, so we’ve really got it down now.”
Durfee’s character is, of course, far more seasoned when it comes to the WSB than rookie Joss. Durfee describes Vaughn as “a complicated guy. I would say Vaughn has a lot going on under the surface, and he’s not really sure what he wants to show at different times because he’s always kind of playing a game. And I think with Eden’s character, even when he wants to level with her, he’s still keeping his cards to himself.”
As for the initial impression that Vaughn forms of his new colleague, Durfee says, “He’s not impressed. Initially, I think Vaughn sees her as a headache, the newcomer who he doesn’t really believe is meant to be there and it’s just creating more work for him.”
Check out a first look photo of the duo’s first scenes together, which air on Friday, March 7, below!
