JR, who needs a bone marrow transplant, is in good company. Here are eight other AMCers who found themselves in need of a bone marrow or organ donation. In 1991, Barbara and Travis welcomed son Sean (Brent Weber), who was conceived as a bone marrow donor for their leukemia-stricken daughter, Molly. Sean’s marrow saved Molly’s life.In 1993, Angie (Debbi Morgan, on LOVING at the time) became ill with aplastic anemia, but got a life-saving bone marrow transplant. When Del (Winsor Harmon, with Eva La Rue as Maria) came to town in 1994, he was in desperate need of a new kidney. He coaxed half-sister Dixie into donating hers.In 2001, Brooke’s adopted daughter, Laura (Laura Allen) required a life-saving heart transplant. When Gillian was felled by a bullet meant for Anna, Laura got her ticker. In 2002, Hayley (Kelly Ripa) and Mateo’s (Mark Consuelos) baby son, Enzo, became gravely ill with early liver failure. Tim Dillon proved to be a match and returned to town to save the child’s life.Off-camera sometime before 2005, Del’s kidney failed again, and his search for a new donor led him to discover his previously unknown half sister, Di (Kelli Giddish). She parted ways with her kidney to save Del’s life.In 2007, leukemia threatened to claim evil Richie’s (Billy Miller) life. When he learned that JR was a compatible donor, he didn’t wait for JR to volunteer — he kidnapped JR and stole it from him!In 2009, a comatose Kendall (Alicia Minshew) was inching toward death and desperately needed a heart transplant. When her half-brother, Josh, tried to rob the casino, Zach seized the opportunity to fatally shoot him. When Kendall woke up, she was stunned to learn whose heart now beat in her body.
