General Hospital Recap: Josslyn Secures Jason and Valentin’s Release from Z!

Comments

The Friday, July 3, episode of General Hospital picked up the day after the shootout on Spoon Island as Josslyn (Eden McCoy) brokered a deal with WSB boss Z (John Oliver), Agent Vaughn (Bryce Durfee) made a surprise return, Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) drew a hard line with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), and Rocco (Finn Carr) and his parents came out of hiding. Here’s how everything went down!

Trade Agreement

Josslyn woke up after surgery to find Z, the head of the WSB, in her hospital room. She provided Z with a full debrief on the criminal activities of Cullum, Sidwell, and Cassius. Z agreed with her assessment that if the public learned that Cullum had deceived the agency, it would be a very bad look for the WSB.

To preserve the WSB’s reputation, Joss offered to issue an official statement pinning the blame on Cassius and claiming that Cullum died a hero — provided she got something in return. “I want a full release and all charges dropped for Valentin Cassadine and Jason Morgan,” she declared.

Z and Joss shook on the deal, and she agreed to give her truth-bending official statement right away.

Meanwhile, Carly was frustrated that the WSB wouldn’t let her see Josslyn. After Lucas managed to get his sister to calm down, she filled him in on the events from the day before on Spoon Island. More determined than ever to get Josslyn out of the WSB, Carly went to the bureau’s Port Charles field office to confront Z. Back at the hospital, Josslyn asked Lucas to come to her room and told her uncle she owed him an apology.

Separation Anxiety

Agent Vaughn returned to Port Charles to wrap up the Cullum/Sidwell investigation and first went to see Britt, who was being held in the PCPD jail. Reminding her that she could be facing serious charges for her part in building the cold fusion device, Vaughn encouraged Britt to cooperate with the WSB’s investigation, informing her that Cullum was dead and Sidwell had been arrested.

Britt’s next visitor was Liesl, who was upset that her daughter had never told her the truth about Cassius masquerading as Nathan. Liesl was also hurt that Britt hadn’t asked her to reverse-engineer the experimental Huntington’s treatment.

As Britt tried to defend herself, she was horrified to hear that her mother had been forced to complete the cold fusion device in her place. Although Britt apologized for keeping secrets again, Obrecht felt like her daughter didn’t truly want a relationship with her. Before storming out, Liesl bellowed that she’d devote her attention to the child who did want her in his life — aka Cassius.

Bad Romance

Having received word that Cullum was dead, Dante, Lulu, and Rocco were able to return home. Rocco wanted to track down Britt to let her know they were safe, but Dante revealed that he’d had her arrested and extradited to Port Charles for her own protection. Furious with his parents’ betrayal, Rocco lashed out, blaming them for whatever legal or medical ramifications Britt faced next.

As Rocco sulked in his room, Dante broke the news to Lulu that he’d learned “Nathan” had actually been an impostor — he was Nathan’s twin brother. Lulu was devastated that her entire relationship with the man had been a lie.

After Dante left, Rocco came back downstairs and told Lulu that he wanted to visit Britt. Still trying to process the Cassius news, Lulu agreed when her son said you could still care about someone who’d made a mistake — and promised Rocco she wouldn’t prevent him from seeing Britt once she was allowed visitors.

Jailhouse Rock

Molly accompanied Charlotte and Danny to the PCPD as their attorney so they could request information from Agent Vaughn about their fathers. Due to the active investigation, Vaughn could only tell them that Jason and Valentin would remain in custody. As Molly privately asked Vaughn to arrange communication between the teens and their fathers, Charlotte suggested to Danny that they pivot their approach.

When Dante arrived at the station to check on Britt, Vaughn introduced himself and asked to speak with the commissioner privately. Dante then went downstairs to the jail to let Britt know that while Cullum was dead, it was up to the WSB to release her — not him.

Secret Society

After running into Dante at the PCPD and learning that her mom was back in town, Charlotte went home to ask Lulu for help with Valentin. While waiting outside on the porch for Charlotte, Danny saw Rocco sneaking out of the house. When Rocco confided that he wanted to check on Britt because he couldn’t just abandon her, Danny frostily replied, “Of course not. Not after everything she’s done for you. Including lying about my dad shooting Cullum when you’re the one who pulled the trigger.”
