Days of Our Lives Comings & Goings: Brytni Sarpy Cast in Mystery Role!
Brytni Sarpy has a new daytime home! The actress is joining the cast of Days of Our Lives, the show revealed on Monday, August 24.
Brytni Sarpy Joins Days of Our Lives Cast
The news came from the Peacock soap’s official Instagram account, which shared a photo of Sarpy in front of her dressing room at DAYS. “Someone new is checking into Salem… Welcome Brytni Sarpy to the Days of our Lives family! Stay tuned,” read the caption.
Sarpy made her soap opera debut on General Hospital in 2015 when she was cast as Valerie Spencer, the niece of Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) whose affair with her cousin Lulu’s (then-Emme Rylan) husband, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), ended their first marriage.
The actress made her final GH appearance in March 2019, leaving the show to join the cast of The Young and the Restless as Elena Dawson. Trading GH for Y&R — and saying good-bye to Valerie — was “bittersweet,” Sarpy told Soap Opera Digest at the time. “I wish I could have at least finished out the character, but it was the timing of everything,” she said. “I started filming pretty quickly after I booked Y&R, so there was not enough time to do that.”
Elena, introduced as a love interest for Devon Winters (Bryton James) who later cheated on him with his cousin, Nate (Sean Dominic), began to fade from storyline prominence in 2023. Sarpy’s last Y&R appearance was in November 2024.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in 2015, Sarpy revealed that she had auditioned for a role on Days of Our Lives — and gone far enough in the casting process to do a screen test — before GH hired her to play Valerie. “I kind of knew it was going to be one [of those soaps] or the other,” she said. And that’s not her only personal history with the show: one of her real-life best friends, Sal Stowers (Lani), is a DAYS cast member.
For now, details about who Sarpy will be playing on DAYS have not been revealed.
With her hiring at DAYS, Sarpy joins an elite group of daytime actors who have held roles on DAYS, GH, and Y&R. That list includes Tamara Braun (most recently Sienna on Y&R), Steve Burton (Jason, GH), Genie Francis (Laura, GH), Stephen Nichols (Steve, DAYS), Greg Vaughan (who now plays Kial on Beyond the Gates).
Days of Our Lives tapes nearly a year in advance, so fans will have to wait until mid-2027 to see Sarpy make her Salem debut.
