Dawson’s Creek Stars Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson Reunite For New Film Trilogy
They won’t actually be playing Joey and Pacey, but Dawson’s Creek co-stars Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson will be reuniting for a trilogy of feature films where they will play young lovers reconnecting as adults and navigating all the associated ups and downs. Deadline is reporting that Holmes will be writing and directing the series, titled Happy Hours, as well as starring alongside Jackson.
All Grown Up
“I am so very grateful to be working again with so many of my wonderful friends on this film, Happy Hours,” Holmes shared on Instagram. “And working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship. Happy Hours is a love story that includes so many people I adore.”
The duo first rose to fame starring on the popular teen drama series Dawson’s Creek, which ran for six seasons on The WB from 1998-2003, and were a real-life item from 1998-99. Holmes played Joey Potter and Jackson portrayed Pacey Witter, and they were core cast members alongside James Van Der Beek (ex-Stephen Anderson, As the World Turns) as Dawson Leery and Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley. Daytime soap stars can also be seen appearing in the series, including Young and Restless‘s Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Days of Our Lives‘s Greg Rikaart (Leo) and General Hospital‘s Carolyn Hennesy (Diane).
During her career, Holmes has stepped behind the camera before, directing and starring in the films All We Had (2016), Alone Together (2022), and Rare Objects (2023). Jackson was recently seen starring as Dan Gallagher in the Fatal Attraction series and Dr. Max Bankman on ABC’s just-axed Doctor Odyssey, as well as in the 2025 feature film, Karate Kid: Legends.
Happy Hours is described as a “character-driven dramedy” that follows a couple as they attempt to balance a relationship with family, careers, and other responsibilities. In addition to Holmes and Jackson, the cast also includes Mary-Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, John McGinty, Donald Webber, Jr., Nathan Darrow, Johnna Dias-Watson, and Jack Martin.
Production on the first film in the three-part series has already begun this summer in New York City, with the two sequels anticipated to be following close behind. Enthused Holmes: “We can’t wait for everyone to see what we make.”
