Bold and Beautiful Recap: Lives Hang in the Balance — Who Will Live and Who Will Die?
The aftermath of Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) attempt to get rid of Steffy on Bold and Beautiful led to a chaotic scene that left three people shot and two of them fighting for their very lives. In the July 9 episode, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) feared the worst as Liam (Scott Clifton) was rushed to the hospital and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) found herself concerned about her granddaughter’s future.
A Race Against Time
Quickly taking in the scene as Sheila sat with her foot bleeding out onto the floor and Luna lying unconscious nearby, Finn turned his focus to Liam as he tried to put pressure on the bullet wound in his chest. Sheila called Liam a brave man and, looking at her unconscious granddaughter, whispered, “Luna, what have you done?” As sirens were heard in the distance, Finn urged Steffy to go meet the paramedics outside.
Steffy watched helplessly as the EMTs tended to Liam. Finally freed from the room where Luna had kept her tied up, Ms. Dylan was horrified by the carnage “Miss Sunshine” had caused, and Finn assured her it wasn’t her fault. Finn stepped over to help the paramedic working on Luna, and the police officer asked Steffy for details about Miss Nozawa luring her there with the intention of killing her. But Steffy could only focus on Liam, and Finn updated the police on everyone’s injuries. Presented with the gun for confirmation, Steffy offered a cursory explanation of the events that led to the shootings.

Emergency Surgeries
As they wheeled them all into the hospital, Grace appeared and quickly took Luna to an examination room while Finn went with Liam. Steffy was desperate for an update, but Finn had nothing to tell her yet as Liam had to go into the OR immediately. The cops continued trying to question Steffy about the other victim’s involvement, so she explained that Sheila showed up to help and was shot in the struggle. Just then, Li arrived, and Steffy ignored the officer to fill her in. “Liam’s been shot!” she cried. “By Luna! He’s lost so much blood. We can’t lose him. We can’t lose him!”
Li was stunned as Steffy filled her in on everything that Luna had done and had to race to her niece’s side as Grace declared they had to get her into surgery immediately and joined in rushing her to the OR. “I know Luna’s your daughter,” Steffy tearfully informed Finn. “But after what she did today, if she survives and Liam doesn’t… I don’t know what I’m gonna do.” Sheila was concerned about her granddaughter and wanted an update, but Finn had to go and left her in Grace’s care. Grace noted Liam was her patient, but Finn insisted she deal with Sheila. Before Liam was taken into the operating room, Steffy took a quick moment to kiss him on the forehead.

Grace operated on Sheila, who continued to fret about her granddaughter before she was put under anesthesia. In another OR, Bridget and Li worked frantically on Luna. They eventually found the bullet, but Li insisted they had to leave it in for fear she would bleed out. “I refuse to let my niece die this way,” the doctor declared firmly.
By His Side
In the waiting room, Steffy sat in tears as the officer offered some support, suggesting that Liam was a strong man with two daughters to fight for. Steffy thanked him and stopped a passing nurse so she could beg to see Liam. The nurse said she wasn’t allowed in the OR, but could watch from an observation room. As she entered and looked through the glass, Steffy saw Finn performing surgery to try and save Liam’s life, and they exchanged worried looks.
While Finn operated, Steffy took a moment to call Hope to inform her that Liam was in the hospital and currently in surgery. Hope naturally assumed it was because of the brain tumor, and was stunned when Steffy revealed he’d been shot by Luna. She passed the news along to Carter, and they immediately headed to the hospital. Grace was sewing up Sheila’s foot, grimly remarking that her injury wasn’t life-threatening, but Liam and Luna’s were.
Steffy watched in horror as Finn desperately tried to keep Liam stable. “Oh, Liam, you need to fight,” Steffy begged quietly. “You need to fight. Kelly needs more time with you. We all do.” Meanwhile, Bridget was sewing up Luna, and Li said she wanted to be the one to inform Poppy about what happened to her daughter. Suddenly, Luna’s condition took a turn, and she began bleeding as her pressure dropped precipitously!
