Billy Flynn Reveals He’s Playing Aristotle Dumas on Y&R!
For months, fans have been wondering, just who is Aristotle Dumas on Young and Restless? Now that question is finally about to be answered: Billy Flynn is indeed playing the mysterious Dumas, as many viewers already suspected. Soap Opera Digest has learned that the actor will be making his debut in the episode airing Thursday, June 19.
Back in March, it was revealed that Flynn was leaving Days of Our Lives, where he has been playing Chad DiMera since 2014, when he took over the role of Stefano’s son from Casey Deidrick. After nearly a decade in Salem, moving to Genoa City was a big change for the actor.
“Before I started, I was nervous to work with all these people,” Flynn told Us Weekly of his new Y&R co-stars. “I was comfortable where I was, and I had earned trust and in the people who knew what I could do. [But] everybody here was so great. I remember watching the monitor the first day, and was so impressed by everybody’s talent that I started to get really nervous [again].”
The name of Aristotle Dumas has been bandied about on Y&R for quite some time now as the Newman, Abbott, and Winters families all found themselves curious about who the powerful and reclusive businessman really is. So playing this character, who has been positioned so prominently in the current storyline, also added to Flynn’s nerves.
This week, a select group of people from Genoa City have received invitations to visit Dumas’s residence in the South of France, and viewers have already seen most of them travel on the tycoon’s private train to an elaborate hedge maze with an impressive meal awaiting them at the center. All the while, someone has been watching the action and keeping tabs on his guests via closed-circuit TV. Now, these visitors are all just awaiting the moment when their host finally reveals himself.
While one mystery will be answered when Flynn makes his on-screen debut as Dumas, that’s just the start of a whole new storyline as the actor begins his run on Y&R, which he called “a dream come true.” (Because DAYS tapes so far ahead, he will continue to appear on both soaps for a time.)
“I’m really grateful to Josh [Griffith, Y&R’s head writer and executive producer] and all the people involved who made that decision,” Flynn said, “and trusted me to come over and see me in this part that, on paper, I don’t know if it was me or not, but time will tell.”
